Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Hi all, I’m a UK applicant via FBR, recently I sent off all my documents but my ID was a Color photocopy of my passport signed and verified by my witness who also signed the verification page. Now I am reading that people were submitting their original passports. Is this a must? Others have d...

As I've seen some Feb applicants getting theirs now! :? I literally check my inbox everyday! According to someone's post after speaking with FBR team, the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Where does the "Address check" part of the process come in? Somehow (I don't know how) I got the impression it meant they were starting on your application, but from studying the data in the spreadsheet, the time between the address check and the congrats email is pretty short. Is the address check...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well, it's been over two years and I am finally Irish. In the time since my application, there's been a pandemic, I've gotten older, seen parents get older, and numerous other life changes. My mortality made me question everything from the importance of this journey to keeping my US citizenship. For...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

How does the address confirmation work?

They email you asking if your original address is still valid..?

A) you say yes and they mail the FBR there
B) you say no, then have to send in proof of address before they move FWD?

given COVID, it's not looking likely I will be at the same address.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am getting a year ahead of myself, but I thought I read somewhere on here that a pickup option for the passport could save some time after FBR. Can you pick up the FBR cert in Dublin? Or once received fly to Dublin to get the passport? I remember reading that a passport done in Dublin is ~ 3 wks.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Got the app received email today - Dec 18.

I assume there's no correlation between the online app submission and processing? In other words, there's no point in applying and getting an earlier number while you gather the docs, right?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I tried searching but didn't find too much on what counts as "personally knowing" for a witness. Does my old physcial therapist or denist count? Can I just use a Notary? Or the Bank mgr where I bank at? Has anyone had difficulties with that?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Caveat - I have only read a couple hundred of the 1650 in this thread. Many are status updates, which doesn't help me when looking for a FAQ. ;) My grandfather was born in Dublin. The last official document is a day away in the mail and I am ready to logon and submit my app. Question : Is there anyt...
