Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has anyone had a passport application sent off and come back since they started processing FBR certificates again, and has some experience of turnaround times? I did my passport online application the day I got the address confirmation email and had the identification form witnessed and ready to go...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Pipefish, Congrats on your progress! I'm curious if you can can why new photographs were requested? And did you need to have them stamped by the same person that stamped the first set? I'm not 100% sure - they didn't say why it was. But I think it's because she was only three weeks old at the ti...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yeah, I think they only do it with babies and very small children - because obviously she was only 3 weeks old in the originals and looks absolutely nothing like that now, she's up and running about and starting to talk! Thanks for the info! Maybe I should be prepared then to take photos of her just...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Mind sharing the age of your daughter? I applied for mine around your time (she was barely 1 month old at that time), but still didnt receive any contact from them. Also, if you ask them, verify if they need to be witnessed or not. Cheers She's nearly 18 months old. I filled in the application when...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

There has been movement on my daughter's application! (From May 2019.) I've received an email asking for updated photos! Does anyone know if they accept electronic photos? Obviously I'll email and ask, but wondered if anyone here knew? We've just got back from Spain (we had to go due to a death in m...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Ye it’s pretty annoying. Hopefully they’ll redo the photo free of charge. They made out like the photo is sort of pre approved/check in some sort of online Irish passport computer system. Now I’m just thinking it’s checked by eye against the requirements. They have software where they select the co...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I tried searching but didn't find too much on what counts as "personally knowing" for a witness. Does my old physcial therapist or denist count? Can I just use a Notary? Or the Bank mgr where I bank at? Has anyone had difficulties with that? As far as I'm aware they don't have to personally know yo...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I used the copies I got from gro.gov.uk and nidirect.gov.uk for my own citizenship/passport application and they were accepted fine.

The have to be the actual ones printed by the records office (s) though.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In USA-at first I had no idea about a "stamp" Stamps are a very UK/Ireland thing I think - it's basically a rubber stamp with their name, address, phone number, etc on. I was surprised they asked for it, it's very retro. Not that common these days, but then business cards are quite old fashioned too.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In the hope my certificate arrives soon I have started to look at the passport application. It says the witness has to stamp the photo. I work in a hospital so surrounded by suitable people but none of them will have a stamp! What do I do. The Medical Director witnessed my passport copy for the fbr...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

We appear to have no choice but to follow the British path first, and then we will be left with the decision of whether the Irish application is even worth the hassle thereafter, given current 1+ year processing times. We also want to be able to travel and take baby to see family during the first y...
