Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congrats Muscat on being basically completely done. I'm expecting my cert within maybe a month, and then 3 months for passport which will put me at 2 years 9 months in total, so I think the time has actually increased between Dec 2019 apps and Feb 2020 applications. I'm hoping for those still waiti...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I applied for FBR on 19th Dec 2019. My passport was posted yesterday 12/07/2022 (this took well over three months). So pretty much 2 years 7 months from start of the fbr process to passport in hand. Hopefully it will be a shorter timeframe for most now. Wishing you all well with your applications.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

My estimated issue date was yesterday and I'm still on processing. I spoke to webchat and they've not been able to give me any further information. Mines past due by 2 weeks now and same, they can't tell me any information other than wait longer. The estimated dates seem to be worthless. What upset...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My passport application was received on 16th March this year. Estimated issue date was 16th May. The tracking page says my documents are being checked but the progress bar seems to have gone backwards since yesterday. So it looks like it’s going rather slowly in the passport office. For those waitin...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey, thank you! Yes, I need to get a certified copy of at least my passport as I’m travelling a lot these next few months (at last, yay!!!). A photo booth local to me in London has an Irish passport setting which I used before for the FBR application. This is the first thing that has made me feel ju...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi there, I think that it would be safe to assume that your FBR will effectively be processed in date order from when you documents were received. I applied and paid on 8 Jan 2019, and a short time after I ended up with cancer which resulted in four serious operations in that year. I didn't get to ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re change of address docs…

“If you have moved address since you completed your application, you should provide a scanned copy of proof of that new address e.g. original utility bills, bank statements, government correspondence within 5 working days.“

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I sent my change of address docs on the same day I received my ‘your application will soon be approved’ email (8th Feb). Everything has come to a halt and I’m just getting ‘out of office’ emails from Laura on team 8. Really disappointed and not sure what to do now.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just received an email from someone on Team 8 to say my application will be approved soon. I’ve moved home so I need to send new proof of address.it’s been a long time but tbh I was prepared for another few months of waiting, so this is a lovely surprise 😊. I’ll try to update the doc but having trou...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It’s not the fault of the FBR. They just left it too late. There was plenty of warning since the referendum in 2016. Lots of people moved to France (and no doubt other EU member states) in the final days and weeks of 2020. It’s certainly more complicated now. I have permanent residency in France as ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In regard to the comments about the ease of obtaining a French passport or CNF (certificate of French Nationality)… it is certainly easy to register the child of a French citizen when they are minors. Unfortunately for us we did not do this (my husband, who died recently, was a French citizen from b...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Out of curiosity can anyone explain why the process takes so long and why the need to provide so much information? I don’t know but I can tell you that it’s infinitely simpler than some other countries. For my children to prove their French Nationality we’ve had to provide, for example, a marriage ...

Don't assume there aren't rules or moderators who visited each post made daily.

If you paid attention, you would have noticed a certain user has been banned from the forum today.
Thank you!
Is there any way for you to know what their new user name will be when they sneak back in?!

Previously a forum member collated all the available timelines periodically and posted them in a succinct manner. Below is my attempt at this, although I think they were more proficient in it than myself. Apologies for a lengthy post. No apology needed and many thanks for having done this. Very muc...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I would like to see less complaining about the backlog and more people putting up dates in this thread, because I think that's what most people who are looking here want to see where they are on line. Exactly. I just scroll past hot-air posts. (eg 109 posts in under 3 months  ) I applied 19/1...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That’s awful about your husband and shocking that they stopped treating him because of Covid 😡, it’s used as an excuse for everything these days. Was it IOM you contacted before as they have been really helpful to a lot of people in the same situation as you. Worth dropping them an email as they’re...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Oh the paperwork is torturous Muscat, I’m imagining that France is as bureaucratic as Italy? My timeline for the carta di Soggiorno hasn’t been too bad tbh. You were lucky enough to get out before the Brexit deadline whereas after being stuck in Capri for 10 months last year when Covid closed down ...

On top of all of that, I’ve since moved permanently to Italy with my Italian husband and because of Brexit I’ve had to apply for the permission to stay here in Italy because I don’t have my irish citizenship yet which means my address on the application has changed so it’s caused no end of hassle! ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Someone here even noticed applications during a certain window being processed in reverse order. I can't explain it (or how there could still be June '19 cases with no update), it really makes no sense, but we'll all get there. That is literally what is happening in my Department in France for post...
