Re: Biometrics appointment: passport with home office

I am guessing I’m correct when I think that it doesn’t matter that my father isn’t in the UK? He has no intentions of moving back. He hasn’t been in the UK since 1970 and he left when he was 2. He renews his passport every 10 years as we have family there and he intends to keep his Brittish citizins...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

I think I’m correct but I’m guessing the applicants father doesn’t have to be living in the UK or intending to move to the UK? My dad moved to Australia when he was 3 and he’s now in his 50s. He has no intention of moving back but he intends to keep Brittish citizinship in case he needs to go there ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

I wonder if after brexit the rules will change so people born before and after 2015 will have to submit DNA. Seems strange that people born before 2015 don’t but people born after do. I read that people born after 2015 can also refuse to provide DNA to.

Re: Passport and paternity

The following link says a birth certificates no longer sufficient evidence. The new law does not affect people born before 2015 but people born on or after 2015 may need to submit DNA. I’m confused as I’d have thought it’d be easier for people born before or after 2015 to follow the same rules. Thir...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

I’m guessing if the fathers listed on the child’s birth certificate, DNA is not needed? I read that the law was changed in 2015 and from the date other evidence will need to be provided along with the birth certificate. Apparently this law doesn’t affect children/fathers if the birth certificate was...

Passport and paternity

Asking on behalf of my father. My sister was born after 2015 and he’s thinking of getting her a Brittish passport in the future. Will Dad being named on her birth certificate be acceptable evidence or will they need to take a DNA test as well? I read that the law was changed in 2015 re paternity but...

A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

My parents have not been together since I was 12 (I am 30 now) and the guide says “for people who’s parents are not married” I’m guessing them not being together is an issue as their obviously not married. I just wondered if they had to be together while I applied.

Legitimacy and domicile question

My father was born in 1967 and he moved to Australia in 1970. He has not been back to the UK since he moved. I was born in 1989 to unmarried parents in Australia but I read that the domicile of the father may be presumed to be the country of his birth unless satisfactory evidence to the contrary is ...

Biometrics appointment: passport with home office

My passport is at the home office along with my UKF application and other supporting documents. I have a biometrics appointment in a couple of days and I read you need to provide your passport for the appointment. I don’t have a coppy of it. Is the passport just used for ID for UKF applications? I h...

Questions regarding DNA for Brittish citizinship applications

I am a bit confused regarding the requirements for DNA for Brittish citizinship through unmarried fathers. I read that for children born before 2015 (I myself was born in 1989), the father being listed on the birth certificate is proof of paternity but for people born after 2015 DNA is required to p...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

How come people born before the date only need to provide a BC but people born after the date have to provide a BC and DNA?
I’d have thought it’d be easier if everyone followed the same requirements.

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

The information on the website I linked is on the UK gov page in general: https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/sites/ ... bility.pdf Link I read that applicants and fathers do not have to provide DNA and home office can’t request it. However from 2015 onwards they seem to be requesting DNA as proof of p...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

So as he is named on my birth certificate is he my legal father as the sites I’ve read for the UK said that if he was listed on it before 2003 he doesn’t have parental responsability. I don’t have my fathers passport and I asked about that. The nationality isometrics team got in contact with the UKF...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

It was on the UK gov website under parental responsability and birth certificates. The reason I mentioned it is cause people can apply for UKF if they were born on or after 1983 and I was born in 1989. In Australia he’s my legal parent and had parental responsability as he was listed on my birth cer...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

Thanks. My concern re brexit is that immigration is going to be changed due to it and I was worried it’d effect me in any way. I’ll still be able to get my Australian bennifits in the UK and I have family in Australia as well as in the UK so just making sure that I can keep my dual citizinship witho...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

So the registration certificate is seperate to the passport and I keep both. I do not have to renew the certificate. I wonder if I’ll e able to keep dual Brittish/Australian citizinship after Brexit. So me moving at the end our lease in August 2021 won’t be an issue and I’m guessing if I’m not domic...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

I know I’m over thinking this but its cause I am still trying to understand Brittish law and I’m just trying to make sure I’m abiding by the law of both countries. “If you don't have foreign income and gains then your domicile status has no bearing on your UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax position...

Re: A few questions about registering as a Brittish citizin

While you may be considered a tax resident, your domicile typically remain will as your country of birth. If you are considered as a non-don, ...
