Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My certificate came in the mail today so I am now officially an Irish citizen after waiting nearly 28 months. I'm cracking open a new bottle of Redbreast tonight to celebrate! Here are the particulars: Application submitted online: 26/05/2019 Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan:...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I have found this forum useful as many other appear to over the past year or so in working out what the current status is with regards to FBR timelines. Previously a forum member collated all the available timelines periodically and posted them in a succinct manner. Below is my attempt at this, alt...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

"Julius. Since you wrote this..., The fact remains that you only put in your FBR application 3 months ago so, even before Brexit or Covid, would still have had at least 12 months waiting in the queue. Yet you've taken up residence here, filling every page with posts, most of which are your own camp...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I actually followed the required documents once I filled the online application for my son, and all it asked for: contest form, fbr for the kid, his birth cert (all in original). Its his first pass, and I applied from outside Ireland and followed the final checklist as-is which doesnt even mention a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. I applied for FBR for my kids over 2 years ago. But good news! The applications have been approved. We applied in early August of 2019. Their certificates arrived this month (September 2021). I am now applying for passports. Anyone have any advice there? I believe it says that you must...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, I have a question. How can the FBR Department distinguish the authenticity of documents in other countries? How can they tell the true from the false? These documents have to be submitted authenticated as per vienna conviction. In EU a simple notar is accepted, outside, foreign affairs dept ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm in trouble. I need to send the express to FBR again, but the express company asked me to fill in the recipient's phone number. Whose phone number should I fill in? They are same to passport dept. Google it. Done it before and worked perfectly. They never call them, its just a requirement if the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

No, no witness needed and they are not strict on the pose etc.. they will ask you to send them to a specific person not just to fbr office.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congratulations to everyone else who has had their FBR finalised - I'm very jealous. Mine isn't for me but for my two children. I've had a passport for years. It's funny reading how many relatives lied about their ages. My mum's birth cert and passport have different dates but same month and year b...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Anyone get a confirmation of address phone call? had one yesterday and the lady told me at the same time she would be approving my application that afternoon. Told me to expect certificate in about 4 weeks, but I'm sure that will be a bit longer. Docs received in Balbriggan: 12 Nov 19 Confirmation ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

And before anybody back fires: there are many ppl here who have documents made in past 2 years and they are still waiting. Example: naturalised dad in 2018, his daughter born 2 months later in UK.. what is complex about it to cross 2 years or get “verified”? Nothing! Why all that “complex work”? So ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

All papers come stamped etc.. i suppose their job is to sleep on papers for a year, and on last week of the year they open the documents and match against a checklist.. if all matches then happy days.. for complex ones, they roll a dice. Hard to believe fbr is serious work unless papers are dated to...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Update! My FBR has finally arrived!! I found it strange that I got no tracking number or email saying my FBR was printed/being shipped, nonetheless it was a great surprise when I got home from work! Now to apply for my passport, which should hopefully take a lot less time. Sept. 22, 2019 - Online A...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Didnt they include a tracking code? It seems they always send a tracking code when the post it. I heard of people who got registered much, much earlier than the congrats email. Usually on same day of address confirmation, they would have actually entered you into their database

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes, 30k applications to be cleared. If you never lived in Ireland before, its hard to understand why public servants are so slow and only ramp up when you talk to them in person. Its a common practice in Ireland to delay things.. “why rush” is in their blood.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Clarification question: Once my husband is on FBR, can my adult children apply for citizenship? We are going round and round in the family and I would like to hear if someone has gotten their adult children onto the FBR this way. It would be great to have that open to future generations. To him? No...
