Re: First Spouse FLR(M) application questions

Lots of delays and indications that the biometrics app is causing time delay issues for those that have used it compared to those that use the appointment system. The Home Office state that applications should be dealt with within 8 weeks of application. My wife applied for her FLR Visa on the 23rd ...

Re: Fiancée visa extension process

Looks like the removal of the wedding ban resolves the problems for those who can get married before July 31st. That date being when the latest Home Office extension expires. It's a pity the Home Office didn't make it easier and less stressful during this time. I hope the Home Office starts the prio...

Re: Fiancée visa extension process

Interesting and contradictory experiences it seems from people in the same position. My MP has tried three times, without success, to get a reply from the Minister, Kevin Foster. He received a reply from an MP's 'Assistant Account Manager' representing UKVI who wrote that an extension (with the £1,0...

Re: Fiancée visa extension process

It looks like the recent announcement to automatically extend to 31st July the visas of those that had visas extended to 31st May solves the problem for those that received official notification of that 31st May extension. I read it as making it unnecessary to apply for an FLR extension if anyone re...

Re: Fiancée visa extension process

I think the documents are probably the same as the ones required for the original fiancee visa. Probably additional documents (as for the FLR m visa) of jointly addressed and received correspondence might be necessary. Given the COVID-19 situation then I believe they will have to be understanding if...

Re: Fiancée visa extension process

I think the fee is £1523 but I am not sure. The issue is that this is a penalty that we would not normally have had to pay but for the wedding ban. The Home Office has said that there will be no penalties f or circumstances beyond anyone's control . £1523 is a penalty by any definition. Even worse, ...

Re: Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

The deadline approaches and still no meaningful statement is forthcoming from the Home Office on provision for those whose visas expire on 31st May. The independent covered the issue a couple of days ago:- https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/hundreds-of-thousands-of-benefit-claimants-wai...

Re: Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

Hi ercalil, good ideas and it's a pity private messages aren't allowed. 31st May is coming up soon and, currently, the approach of the Minister for Immigration is to avoid answering any questions on the issue including ones from an MP of the same party. My MP as written twice now and can't get a rep...

Re: Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

Unfortunately, no updates and the Home Office Minister has ignored my MP's two letters requesting an answer on whether they will extend. The only option seems to be either to use the exceptional circumstances rule and try and extend with a cost of over £1500 and further delays or, in my case, my fia...

Re: Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

Hi Andy, Yes, there must be quite a few couples in the same situation. I can't get any clarity from the Home Office or my MP. My MP wrote to Kevin Foster, Minister For Future Borders & Immigration on March 25th, but I haven't had any update despite trying. Everyone in this situation is in limbo. The...

Re: Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do understand the forum is not an 'official govt media' . Just to clarify the purpose of my post, I am not asking for anyone to give the equivalent of a Home Office response as you suggest. That would be very naive. Those with better knowledge of the Home Office than me,...

Fiancée visa: unable to marry in 6 months due to wedding ban

My fiancee's visa expires on the 18th of April. There is an obligation to get married and apply for the FLR (M) visa prior to this date. We were due to get married on the 26th March, however, the ban on weddings on the 23rd March prevented this. The Home Office has said visas for all those in the UK...
