Thanks f2k Just to clarify further on your last response, when you say "dates of absence after this date will be toted up as per the requirement". Does this mean she should be OK as long as her absence from UK: - since 25 January 2007 in your example does not exceed 270 days - since 25 January 2009 ...

Where to put absence details on SET(M) form?

Hi, We're currently in the process of completing the SET(M) form for my wife's application for Indefinite Leave to Remain. I have downloaded the latest version of the form from UKBA's website, but can't see where on the form we should give details of her absence from the UK? Any ideas...? Or do they...

Returning from Holiday Abroad 6 Weeks Before Spouse Visa Exp

Hi All, I am a British citizen. My wife is an Indian national. We got married in December 2007 in India and she was granted Entry Clearance as my spouse at the end of February 2008. She then entered the UK in the first week of March 2008. My wife has passed her Life in the UK test and we have all th...

The 3 month timeframe is usually "UP TO 3 months"...ie. it doesn't usually take that long if your paperwork is complete. My wife applied for her spouse visa in Mumbai and her timelines were as follows 23rd Jan 2008 - Application submitted at VFS Mumbai South 15th Feb 2008 - Interview held and Deputy...

My advice would be for your husband-to-be to apply for a settlement visa as your spouse after your marriage, as Sammie advises. That way your husband will be able to work in the UK too. I don't think his current financial situation matters too much in the case of a settlement visa application. The E...

It should also include details or clarifications for anything in ...

I don't think ECOs are interested in the total value of the savings. Rather what they want to see is a regular pattern of transactions, both incoming and outgoing, over a period of time (eg: 6 months). That's the most important thing - to show that the sponsor will be able to maintain themselves, th...

Was there any more information in the rejection notice as to why the ECO was not satisfied with the marriage certificate?

What type of marriage did you have? Court or religious? In the case of the latter, did you submit both your registration and religious marriage certificates?

I'm not sure - my wife didn't submit a log of the calls between us with her visa application as we didn't have this information at the time. She was still issued with her visa though. We make international calls using Alpha Telecom, and I've recently found out that they provide a log of your calls o...

My wife was interview by BHC in Mumbai and was told the positive outcome immediately at the end of the interview. Though she did have to undergo medical check-ups before she got her passport back with the visa stamped.

Good luck

Should be fine I think. I don't think the ECOs have the time to go to the extreme of checking proof of postage stamps on envelopes. We only submitted one letter that my wife sent me with one of her relatives, when we submitted her spousal application in Mumbai on 23rd Jan 2008. Although we had also ...

I'd suggest submitting as much communication evidence as possible to show that the relationship is subsisting.

Cards and letters will help. Telephone cards too. I'd suggest keeping any future emails and chat logs for evidence too.

As far as I know, the new rules to come into force of 1st April do not apply to Settlement applications in particular. Rather, they focus on targetting applicants who use deception to enter the UK. I don't think a Nikah ceremony officiated in the UK is classed as a legal marriage as far as immigration rules for the UK are concerned. So I don't think your plans of having your Nikah should have an impact on your application for CoA
