Re: Must I apply for British Passport straight after ceremony?

There is no legal requirement for British citizens to enter or leave the country with a UK passport. I know many Brits who enter and leave the country with an EU passport, for instance. However, if you use a foreign passport then they would expect you to comply with visa requirements, even though yo...

Re: When can I apply for citizenship?

To the best of my knowledge, if you're married to a British citizen then you can apply right away with an ILR.

Re: Good character requirement

It's an expensive application, better feel safe. Note that the OP is asking about a BNO visa application, not a citizenship application. Compared to other non-EEA applications (which typically cost £1000+ for a 2.5 year visa+IHS), a BNO visa is very cheap (at only £250+IHS for a five year visa). A ...

Re: Good character requirement

If you are too worried, then it might be worthwhile to consult with a specialist immigration lawyer, just to be safe. It's an expensive application, better feel safe.

Re: Good character requirement

To the best of my knowledge, the good character requirement is only for the 10 years previous to the application date, so if the convictions were made before that period of time, then you're likely to be fine.

Re: Correcting a mistake on my naturalisation certificate

You do not need to send the original documents, a copy is sufficient (except for the original certificate of naturalisation, of course). You can send a copy of your passport or your birth certificate that indicates the correct name. I sent a copy of my passport to correct their error on my place of ...

Custody is irrelevant if the child is 22 and to my understanding, registration for children is only possible before they turn 18.

Hello,

Can a referee declaration (with a photo attached) be signed electronically?

Thanks!
No, it has to be a wet signature.
Mine signed electronically and it was accepted.

Re: Passport application - return of supporting documents

It'd better not be, our postman has delivered 3 letters this week so far that weren't for me... I paid for the secure delivery so it should come with TNT. I have a history of being rather unlucky and basically if things get lost it is always my stuff. Has anyone waited 2 weeks or more for return vi...

Re: Does Settled Status expire after acquiring British citizenship?

I'm not sure that the Withdrawal Agreement preserves Lounes. It does preserve "Retained EU law", but that can be (and will likely be if it hasn't already been) removed by domestic UK legislation. The Withdrawal Agreement is narrower than you think. From my reading of the Agreement, it does not pres...

Re: Does Settled Status expire after acquiring British citizenship?

"Settled Status" is , in legal terms, Indefinite Leave to Remain issued under Appendix EU of the UK Immigration Rules. A British citizen can not hold ILR (or any other form of leave under the Immigration Act or Rules) as he has a superior Right Of Abode in the UK. Therefore, to the best of my knowl...

Does Settled Status expire after acquiring British citizenship?

I recently naturalised as a British citizen, based on the EU route of Settled Status. My EU passport is about to expire and I am about to renew it. I learned that I will need to update my Settled Status account with the details of my new passport if I want the Settled Status to be connected to it. T...

Re: TNT keeps changing passport delivery date

I’m sorry that they’re torturing you that way. Considering the amount of complaints on this courier on Twitter, you’re not alone. They’re terrible. Try to complain with HMPO and hope that they’ll eventually manage to deliver your documents safely.

Send it in a strong A4 envelope, preferably using Royal Mail Special Delivery, so you can track the delivery. You can put it first in a transparent document bag if you wish. It should be sufficient.
