Good Character-Concerned about Traffic Tickets

My husband just received ILR and we are thinking ahead to applying for British citizenship, as we plan to apply exactly a year from now. Recently, however, he received several minor traffic tickets (e.g. being in a bus lane, parking in wrong spot, etc). There are no speeding tickets or anything for ...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

I guess I won't worry in that case. I think he had just a bit over 90 days, and we are well under total number of absences for the past five years. Thanks!

Re: Return Child BRP

Yes, that bit I do know. But the BRP return address is the same. UKVI are usually quite helpful, but this time when I called they just said "Yes, it needs returned" and "check the website for info." The letter we got with her citizenship registration did not mention anything about BRP return, but we...

Return Child BRP

Is the guidance the same as below for return of a child's BRP? I do not see anything regarding BRP return in the original letter with my daughter's citizenship certificate, but I know it does need to be returned. You must send your biometric residence permit (BRP) back to the Home Office within 5 wo...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

I tried calling UKVI today to double check on one last document before submitting as the biometrics appointment is coming up soon, however they wouldn't provide any advice re: absence evidence. Do you need to upload a cover letter with airline tickets if your passport is missing stamps for entry/exi...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Thanks, everyone! Just submitted and paid so well before the BRP expires on 28 March. Snagged a biometrics appt for 6 March too so not too bad. Chose to go standard route this time which does make me a bit nervous with the BRP expiring, but hopefully we'll get lucky and not have to wait too long. Ha...

MN1 Approved-when to return BRP

I received my daughter's citizenship certificate recently. She was born in the UK so we applied using MN1 form as soon as I got ILR status. Unlike when I received my ILR, her letter does not indicate when and if I should return her BRP. I am assuming I should but do I do so right away or once I get ...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Thanks again, Zimba! That's what I've done. I think I am mostly sorted now. I just want to double check a few last things, which I'm pretty certain of from reading previous threads on the forum: 1) For the questions regarding leave granted since 11 January 2018, I have answered YES and YES. This is ...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Anyone? Especially #1 which is driving me batty. Online form even says you can provide an ILR ref number, but because the drop down menu only lists visa categories it doesn't give me this option. There is nothing I can see in the form in earlier sections that would have led the form to conclude I'm ...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Thanks, Zimba! For the other questions, does anyone know: 1) Why the online form will not let me select settlement for my (sponsor) current status? I can only see different visa types as an option. 2) Is there any reason to contact anyone about the Life in the UK Test code? My husband said it was fo...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Sorry, new question popping up as I fill in the form. I already have ILR, but when filling out the online form for Set(0) it only gives me the option of different visa categories (e.g. Tier 2 Visa) rather than ILR for my status as sponsor. This isn't really accurate since I received ILR status awhil...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Er, sorry, that should say proof of cohabitation. This is for a Set-O application and he's on a Tier 2 Dependent visa right now. I'm assuming if I get online bank statements stamped that could work. The Home Office has accepted these before as they indicate the validity of the documents and state ou...

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

He did pass! Now I just need to figure out the supporting documentation. We got the code to put in the form but the testing site said he needed to email someone as he accidentally said he was taking the test for citizenship. I'm not sure why this would be as even the email says its for settlement or...

Yes, I do. And I told him to take it early. Can only remind someone so much. Doesn't need B1 as we're American so native English speakers.

Re: Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Oh, phew! That's a relief. I hate cutting it so close, but we shouldn't have any issue getting to point of submission/payment well before the BRP expires.

Eligible for ILR but Tier 2 BRP Running Out

Hi All, My husband is due to take the Life in the UK test next week and I suspect will pass. However, my concern is that his BRP runs out 8 weeks from then. I will prepare all materials in advance and fill out the application right away, but wanted to confirm if a) once you have submitted the applic...

MN1 Referee Form

Quick question, I am applying for my daughter's British citizenship after receiving my ILR status. I had each referee sign and date a copy of the form, but in the last steps before booking an appointment it said something like "both referees should sign both forms." It isn't even set up this way for...

NO UKCVAS Appointments for this Week?!

Just as subject line suggests, I'm struggling to get an appointment to submit my biometrics with UKCVAS, which is frustrating as I paid for Super Priority service so that I could get things processed quickly and just need to get through this last step. I am looking at multiple locations and in many ...

Final Doc Check-Set(O) Application

I am currently on a Tier 2 Visa and have now been in the UK for over 5 years and am therefore eligible for ILR. I have completed my application form and collected all of my documents and am about ready to submit, but just wanted to check a few things: 1) For bank statements, I can get a copy of the ...

Re: ILR Documents

Thanks @Zimba and @procyon! Yes, I've started it now, though got stuck on the SOC code so waiting on my employer to provide that info for me. I do think I will do as you say @procyon and just submit the day I return. One last question, I've read the timelines on super priority and priority routes, a...

Re: ILR Documents

Thank you, @Zimba! And what about cohabitation evidence? I've read on previous threads you need to have mail with both spouses names spread across two years, but I'm not seeing that requirement online so not sure if it is no longer something that is required. Same goes with P60s. When I go to the IL...

ILR Documents

Hello, I am due to apply for ILR in September and am beginning to gather my documents as I'll be out of the country for several weeks and need to apply once I return. First, am I right in thinking it is fine to work on my ILR application online now as long as I don't submit it until I'm eligible? Se...

Re: Tier 2 to ILR-What should I prepare early?

@seagul, I have done this but lots of discussions are super specific. I also realise rules may change along the way but wanted to know what people wish they prepared early. As in the proof of cohabitation example, I’d be screwed if I waited until I was applying as would in no way have that evidence ...

Tier 2 to ILR-What should I prepare early?

I recently had my Tier 2 (General) visa extended for myself and two dependents (husband and UK-born child) and will be eligible to apply for ILR in two more years. While it's very early to think about ILR, I wanted to know what documents I should start putting together in a file so that the ILR appl...
