Re: Passport application

I am applying for my first UK passport now that i have acquired UK citizenship. But, why on earth do they need my current non-UK passport in order to process my first UK passport application?? I travel frequently for work so i cant afford to give them my only other non-UK passport in the meantime. ...

Re: Eligibility for naturalisation when returning to UK after 1 year of absence

As per the first reply, you will NOT be able to apply immediately on your return. You would have been away for more than 90 days in the previous year. So you would need to wait almost a full year after returning to the UK before you can apply. And also make sure that if you add up all your holidays,...

Re: Travel after naturalisation but before passport

The British Citizen Application process should really allow the applicant to tick a box for those interested in getting a passport (and additional fees if necessary), to avoid all the confusion that comes from this gap between getting the Citizenship and then the passport :sigh:. This used to be po...

Re: Travelling to UK from a redlist Country through non red list country

Please think twice before looking for ways to "game" the system in this way. Countries around the world have imposed travel restrictions, bans and quarantines for reasons of public health and safety during this worldwide pandemic catastrophe. If these restrictions are disrupting our personal hopes ...

Re: Issues getting an H1B visa during pandemic

Excuse my off topic response, but Poland doesn't allow dual citizenship, how can you be a dual citizen? Just curious I don’t know where you got that information. Dual citizenship is allowed it’s just that Poland ignores any other citizenship other than Polish if you are already a Polish citizen. Th...

Re: Citizenship certificate- Stuck abroad because of red list

I know £1750 is a lot but given all the effort your friend surely had to put into his citizenship application, maybe it’s worth considering it? He can take an indirect flight and quarantine in a hotel for 11 days and then he will make it in time. Alternatively I’d advise him to travel to an amber co...

I just had my citizenship ceremony and I officially became a British Citizen. Applied for a passport straightaway, and now back to waiting. This time I’m waiting for my friend to confirm my identity as he said he won’t be free until Friday to do it online  It has been a bumpy ride of 8+ months ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Invitation letter received! Approval was middle of June and the date on the letter is 23rd September, which gives me like 3 working days of leeway to book the ceremony lol (it states 21 days from the date on the letter which seems a little tight to me all things considered). I'll phone Brent counci...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

@baybars1 many thanks for your model, the timing was really on point for all of us. Also as a separate update my original private ceremony date was 15 October but yesterday my council (Camden) replied to my email and it turns out they had group ceremonies (!) available on the 14th! So now my ceremon...

This is great news. I am still waiting for my invitation as my approval was at the beginning of July. It makes me happy to see that your certificate arrived at the council and there is progress. My council is also Camden. Regarding the private ceremony, is 15 October the nearest available date or d...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I've called the Home Office and, apparently, they are still sticking with the deadline of the end of this month for clearing the backlog of approvals granted prior to 7 August 2020. This is broadly consistent with my model, so I am not binning it just yet. On a separate note, I doubt that a full lo...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Thank you for your answer. I have also emailed the council and they said I must wait for the invitation letter as I need to have it with me when I book the ceremony. Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Did anyone from Camden Council have their ceremony lately? Or did anyone receive their invitation letter? I would appreciate any information about the council. I am still waiting for a letter for a ceremony with them. Approved in early June. They restarted group and private ceremonies on the 18th A...
