Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I just want to get it done, as I applied mid-February already. The Zoom ceremony is super quick, they say 10-15min, so I also do not have to take time off work. I have asked if a friend of mine can dial into it as my virtual guest. They responded within 2h offering me a slot for Wednesday. The grou...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I got mine now! Just found it in the letterbox. Immediately emailed the council to book a Zoom ceremony. invitation letter is dated 22 September. I think this again confirms that the model is spot on. My sense is that there is a variation in arrival dates across Friday/ Saturday/ following Monday b...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Here is the list of members whose invites have arrived, as well as three members whose certificates are with the local council, but the invites are yet to be received (in red font). It would be great if they could update us here as soon as the letters are in. Actual Approval Date ----- Actual Lette...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I am also still waiting, approval 26/05/2020 but no letter yet. Emailed the HO almost 1.5 month ago about change of address, no reply at all. I have forwarding from the old address just in case anyway but who knows where they will send it to (if they ever will anyway)... Update, I emailed Southwark...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

That is right. The registrars emails is hit and miss. I havent received my letter yet but when I made enquiries, I got a response giving me two personal email addresses saying who to contact for zoom and who for the in person ceremonies, depending on your preference. The forum rules do not allow to...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi, guys! Has anybody booked a ceremony at Southwark Council recently? I received an invitation letter today, called them in the morning and after long waiting on the phone had a chat with a guy who told me that they don't book ceremonies buy phone and I should send an email to registrars@southwark...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Do we know for sure whether that the citizenship invite ceremony letters are being sent in date order? I got my citizenship approval on 23 Sep, I had submitted my application on 17 Aug with IDV photo submission on 7 Sep. However, I know there are people who submitted citizenship applications in Jun...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

We already knew that. They keep saying 8-12 weeks from 7 August for the backlog to be cleared. So in theory, people should start receiving letters from end of next week. Southwark Council told me that they were receiving certificates weekly or fortnightly but could not confirm where they stood in te...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I have just emailed a bunch of questions to the person at Southwark Council, asking if they can provide any information on the process, what they are receiving from the Home Office etc. I have also cited the article in the Independent. Let's see how forthcoming they are...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

HO says 8-12 weeks from 7 August. Following that logic, 8 weeks is up on 2 October but somehow I doubt we will see a sudden influx of invitations coming through by then.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Applied on 5th March, approval email - on 02 of June, no invitation letter. Today I sent email to Southwark Council (registrars@southwark.gov.uk) and received an answer in a half an hour : Dear *****, Thank you for your email. We have not as yet received your naturalisation certificate from the Hom...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Perhaps the most promising way to figure out the likely length of the delay would be to reach out to the relevant local council's registrar and ask them how the process has been progressing from their end. Home Office seems unlikely to be very helpful with enquiries as to individual cases within th...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Looks like they just decided to ignore the email approvals and carry on business as usual I don’t think they ignore it, but it seems the ones approved by email from April to somewhere in August are the backlog they work off slowly and the ones from later in August when they decided to send decision...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Sad but great to hear that we're in the same boat! You actually can't be sure if you made the right choice or not, because each council receives the batches of certificates in a different random way, so who knows. I truly hope that our journey will come to its end soon, I'm tired of looking in my m...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I've been waiting for my invite since the middle of may and keeping spirits high till I walked back in from the gym 10 mins ago with a brown envelope with my council name on it. You needed to see how elated i felt with joy in my heart singing 'finally'. And then, I carefully opened it to make sure ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

And just received an update from my council as well and it’s exactly the same they said two weeks ago. “ The home office send them in weekly despatches and the ones received last week were issued at the end of March.” Would be so much easier, if all councils were like Merton and would publish the r...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Guys, next week will mark my 12th week since approval. What's the chance I get my invitation next week. Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I emailed Southwark council to ask if they have my certificate (which they do not yet...), but what really amazed me was that they responded literally within 10 minutes. Did not expect that. Let's see if I let HO know I now live in Westminster council if that makes it come through any faster This i...
