Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the congrats! Really hope there'll be celebrations for the rest of you soon - especially those that put their applications in before mine.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

To answer a few related questions that have come up in the last couple of pages: It seems the process goes: You get a 'confirmation of address' email once someone has looked at your application and decided that you should be entered on the FBR. You must reply within 5 days with a scanned proof of ad...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is there any way of blocking users on this messageboard? I don't want to read about some clown that can only spend three months of the year at her holiday cottage. I also wondered this, and it turns out you can block people using the charmingly named 'Friends and Foes' feature. From the FAQ: "What ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The DFA page still says that processing is paused to not send in any documents for new applications (https://www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abroad/registering-a-foreign-birth/), but yes, clearly some of the backlog of existing applications from 2019 are quietly being processed. Pure speculation, but I ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes, I was getting a bit worried about the delay between 'address confirmation' and 'congratulations' emails since I replied to the former pretty promptly, and wondered if some last minute problems had been discovered with my documents that would see the whole lot rejected, or if the certificate was...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My timeline so far:

Documents received email: November 7th 2019
Confirmation of address email: July 6th 2021
Congrats email: August 5th 2021

Apparently my certificate is on its way by signed-for delivery :). I will attempt not to charge at the doorbell like an excited labrador whenever it rings...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Some very good news for me! Documents received email: November 7th 2019 Confirmation of address email: July 6th 2021 The email was very clear that I needed to confirm my address withing 5 working days or it would be sent to the address on file - so if your application may be nearing approval and you...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Unlike job applications, pregnancies are not always planned. I emphasise with anyone who has lost opportunities due to the delay in FBR processing. However this thread is about sharing knowledge/advice on how to successfully apply - it’s not helpful to use it to publicly lash out, lambast the Irish ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes I have complained about the delays, and yes I have tried to do something about it. The attitude of the Irish Government over FBA has been contemptuous beyond belief. They are now apparently only giving consideration to those having had sexual intercourse. This is both unfair and strange - for a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's ridiculous to say that the delay is down to 'laziness'. It's not like they've just been having a nap all this time. There's been a pandemic on, and FBR has not been the priority. That political issues in countries outside of Ireland have resulted in a huge upsurge of demand for this service doe...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My understanding is that “receiving and processing new FBR applications” is paused, but the current applications are still being processed which means that they most likely are processing them from home and this of course would cause a delay due to logistics. This brings me some hope, but another p...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the stats Batman. Going by those averages I still have about 150 days to go  Question: my application was received last November. My brother's now talking about applying too. Is there any way he can piggyback on my application, seeing as sibling applications can be done together, o...
