Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Quick update. I've just spoken to someone on the webchat service. At least he was a bit more helpful than the previous guy and didn't cut me off early. I found out they're not actually connected to the FBR, which I didn't realise - they're on the FBR section of the website, so I assumed they were se...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

@IrishNJUSAMan - I'm in the UK and I got through to the webchat, but it was useless. The guy told me to email; I said I already had and he said "try again" and hung up. I suppose I'll try again tomorrow with no expectation of getting anywhere. There's no living family members left who attended my p...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has anyone had any luck with writing to the DFA? If so, what address did you use? The address given in the DFA's email is different to the one that you send your FBR application to. I'm getting absolutely nowhere with my parents' marriage certificate. Nobody from the DFA is replying to my emails and...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Completely disagree - at the end of the day the fact is, they do offer citizenship by descent. It's no good saying 'we're grateful they do' - the fact is that we've all paid for a service which we're not getting at the moment. There's zero reason why these people can't work from home. I understand ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I've had no luck whatsoever getting anywhere with the webchat. Always says not available.....I've given up trying it ---- and just wait....and wait....and wait....andwait.......patience ..... jgclancy I got through fairly quickly (approx 20 minute wait), but it wasn't worth it, if that's any consol...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I had a similar issue in that I was not able to find a civil marriage record either, though my grandparents presented themselves as legally married. I hired an attorney, performed an exhaustive search for records which cost me a decent chunk of change paying for each record request, and then had to...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello all. Well, I appear to be up s*** creek with my FBR application. Applied August 2019. Didn't hear anything until two days ago, when I got an email rejecting my parents' marriage certificate. Apparently it has to be a civil certificate, not a church one - I didn't even know there was a differen...
