Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Thanks for the reply! Could I just ask where that information is from? On my application form it says the following: 1) Citizenship and identity documents: passport or national ID card. If resident outside of the state, certified copies of ID are accepted. But then on the citizenship category docume...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Hi, I just received my foreign birth registration confirmation and am now applying for the passport. I haven't really looked into the process before now, but I seem to remember people saying a verified copy of your birth country passport may be submitted instead of the original passport, is this cor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Sigh. Was happy to get an email that my citizenship is about to be approved and my certificate mailed. However that was almost a month ago now. Obvs I just want it asap so I can stick the damn thing in an envelope straight back to them for the passport wait. Any recent advice on how long Between th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Looking through the list of documents required for FBR based on an Irish Grandparent, I have everything to hand except proof of ID for my mother. She is 82 years old, hasn't had a passport for 20+ years, gave up her driving licence a few years ago and we don't have National ID cards in the UK. Does...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello all. Long time lurker here (very long time… 2 years!) Thought I’d join the party and share my status since I’m now on my two year application anniversary - albeit like many here there’s not much of an update. Application Submitted: 9 August 2019 Supporting Documents sent: late September 2019 ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Whilst we can't be certain, honestly it seems to me as though the 'please do not send supporting documentation' message is still there to simply deter applications whilst there's still such a massive backlog. Applications HAVE been progressing the last few months. Clearly the office isn't open fully...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was just flipping through my new (UK) passport and at the back there is printed a map of the UK isles, however according to this map, the Republic of Ireland appears not to exist!!!!! I would have thought they would at least outline the whole island of Ireland and then shade in the Northern Irela...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all. I've been reading some posts and I'm wondering whether my documents have been received since I mailed them December 2019. January 7, 2020 I got this email: "Your application for Irish citizenship through entry on the Foreign Births Register has now been received." Some people are describing...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I notice on other threads here that people waiting for naturalisation for extended periods have sent legal notices asking for a decision on their application within a certain time-frame, or have sent freedom of information requests on the status of their application. I don't know if that is an optio...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The post on the passport service twitter saying they'll have an update on FBR 'later in the summer' is a bit concerning considering it's not even Summer yet. Late Summer to me means the end of August. Surely they can't keep it closed for another 3/4 months only to be able to potentially give an 'upd...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I have to say, the fact that the office is likely now closed again all the way until at least April is absolutely insane. I could understand the office being closed during the first lockdowns, when this situation was new and the whole world was caught by surprise and shut down, but they've now had ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hey -- So i ordered a birth certificate for my grandfather -- its from ireland, but just a scan of a handwritten document... scrolling through the history here it seems like maybe i need a 'long form' certificate... Is that true, or any tips? The certificate i got and submitted looks like http://ir...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

As much as it is mightily inconvenient for those of us waiting for an FBR I'm not sure we should be criticising the way the Irish government are handling it, especially here. Pretty much every government in the world has faced criticism for the way they have handled things, whether it's doing too m...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

i completely agree-i definitely do not want my paperwork floating around where it doesn’t belong! that being said...each of us did our fair share of hunting down centuries-old documents. SURELY the first thing the staff must do is scan these to digitize them for future generations and applications ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm frustrated as well, but I can't figure a way a that the FBR employees could get this work done at home. Imagine our thousands on thousands of important private personal documents floating around between the FBR office to these people's private homes? No thank you! How would they get from the se...

Just got my FBR through after 18 months, but it has got me thinking about my kids. . . . Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Frustrating to have another closure. I can't help feeling it's a little ironic that a lot of us are here because of the UK's decision and handling of Brexit, and now it's likely the UK's handling of their variant of Covid is going to keep us here even longer! Fingers crossed it's a short one. If th...
