Hi, yes, they did actually. I thought my wife (EU member)'s private insurance from her own country, plus NHS, is enough. Obviously, i didn't know the significance of getting a private insurance. Now i do! So i re-apply, hoping that it'll be more straight forward this time. Altho I'm a little worrie...

Additionally, a single absence of up to 12 months for important reasons such as pregnancy, childbirth, serious illness, study, vocational training or posting overseas will not affect your residence. As far as I understand (and have done the same), it it still better to show as much funds you can in your (or spouse's/joint) bank in the UK AND/or abroad.
