You can use the two years on work permits as part of your reckonable residence. Once you have got 5 years of stamps in your passport, you can send off the application for naturalisation. Just bear in mind that, barring any serious improvement in time required for processing applications, you're pro...

Work Permit and Marriage (Reckonable residence)

I am from US and have been here on a work permit for 2 years now, and just got renewed for 3 more years. I have been a relationship with my Irish partner for 2 years now as well. We are talking marriage. We have lived together 6 months already. If I stay on this work permit, in 3 years I can apply f...

Pay cuts and work permits?

There is rumor that my employer is going to announce pay cuts. What happens if the pay cuts result in my yearly salary falling below the minimum level for work permit approved jobs? Can they legally cut the salary below that level for someone on a permit? As isn't the permit a binding contract with ...

Re: Question on stamp 4 and D Spouse Visa...Help please!

Ok, I'm a US citizen. My Irish citizen fiance and I have been approved by the Irish marriage registrar to be married in Ireland this March. My question is, what is the quickest way for me to be able to live and work in Ireland with him ASAP? If I researched correctly, it'll take 14-16 months to pro...

Work Permit - changing jobs after a year

From the entemp website: If this is your first work permit in the State then (apart from in exceptional circumstances) you are normally expected to stay with your initial employer for a period of 12 months, but then you may move employer provided that a new application for a work permit is made for ...

Re: Marriage to Irish National - DOJ Guidance on Procedure

http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP07000024 Eventually, the DOJ has updated its information in relation to the process of applying for residence based on marriage to an Irish national. so the 12 month possible wait is only for Option #2, right? If you fall into category 1, then you get granted ...

Canadians are not visa required, hence there will be no need to apply for a D-spouse visa. These are for people from countries that require a visa to visit Ireland. I'm not entirely sure what's best but other people have run into problems when trying to change their status within the country (i.e. ...

So, if you are already in Ireland on one work permit, and you decide at some point you want to change jobs - can you look for work legally while on a permit? If you find another employer willing to sponsor you, do you then have to leave country again while they apply for a permit? Does the new permi...

Has there been any major news coverage of the naturalisation delay issue at all?

I know immigration gets a lot of "face" coverage, but has any newspaper or tv/radio programme ever focused on how long it will take for the folks propping up the Irish economy to get official recognition?

Since you will be the family member of an Irish citizen living in Ireland, you need to apply under Irish law, not EU law. The best and easiest thing for you to do is just to leave the country on expiry of your working holiday visa and make sure your application is submitted after the date of expiry. I got a big run around as to what I had to do (two departments suggested it was fine to stay and apply, but the GNIB ins...

Work Permit, documents question

I'm in the states waiting for my work permit to be processed. My question is, once I have it (fingers crossed) are there other documents immigration will require at the airport (ie: letter from employer, etc.) or do I just show them what DETE sends me? Same for registering for the GNIB....should I e...
