EU rights for my non-EU kids (cont.)

My kids are 18 (leaving cert year and Stamp 2A - not allowed to work without a work permit) and 20 (in 2nd year of university and on a "Stamp 2" - may work 20hrs a week) and have lived in Ireland for over 8 years. Both are still entirely dependent upon their parents. I need to get them up on their o...

EU rights for my non-EU kids

I'm a recently naturalised Irish citizen and my two dependent sons have had their applications for permanent residence refused on the basis that "they are dependents of an Irish national" and "not a family member of an EU citizen as defined by the Regulations". This sounds like nonsense to me - can ...

Timeline for kids of naturalised parent/s?

I was naturalised last month and today I sent off my application to naturalise my kids. Both of them are over the age of 18 so technically not minors. However, they are still both students are entirely dependent upon me. They have lived continuously with me since they arrived here over 8 years ago. ...

"Application for a certificate of naturalisation approv

Applied in July 2005. Next available civil court sitting is the 19th of Nov when I am required to "declare my fidelity to the nation and loyalty to the state" - and pay my €950. What a relief! After eight years in limbo I can at last make new plans and boldly go forward!

Marriage affidavit

I didn't take a copy Heybabyy. From what I remember it asked me for our marriage details, nationalities, our parents nationalities and places of birth - and had to be signed/stamped by our solicitor.

affidavits for non-EEA ... I've not kept a copy of the marriage affidavit so can't post a copy. I'll wait until the end of Aug and then send in a query if I haven't heard anything by that stage. Mind you, if the weather doesn't improve by the end of August I may just bugger off to somewhere drier a...

Applied for citizenship in July 2005 - no news yet

I'm encouraged to see decisions for applications made in Jun 2005 coming through. I've had no news since mid-Feb 2008 when I told the Dept of Justice they were starting to process my application and was asked to submit a marriage affidavit endorsed by my solicitor. I've not heard from them again in ...

Work permits will result in increased exploitation

I despair at the complete lack of thought in the Government's handling of yet another aspect of immigration policy. Given that most foreign students work part-time an in casual employment, forcing them to get work permits will be highly unattractive to employers due to the stirct terms in work permi...

English language tests by the Irish - what a laugh!

Open any Irish newspaper and witness their butchering of the English language. The Irish seem to have particular difficulty with the correct use of the words bring and take. FFS it's 'take me to the airport' and not 'bring me to the airport'!

Refusal due to benefits claims

I submitted applications for citizenship in Aug 2005 after five years of continuous paid employment in Ireland. The news of a previous refusal due to benefits claims is a bit of a worry to me. While I have a high-paying job and have bought a house in Ireland my wife has been claiming child benefits ...
