Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Did you receive your citizenship through the FBR as well? IIRC correctly, when applying for my son's first US passport they didn't require any proof of address for his, but they did require ID of the parents. It's a little strange, but the cover page should be accurate, I would just send what they ...

I now have his FBR certificate in hand. We live in the United States. Today I filled in his pass...

First Time Irish Passport for FBR Minor

My two year old son just recently became an Irish citizen through Foreign Birth Registration. I now have his FBR certificate in hand. We live in the United States. Today I filled in his passport application online for a first time child passport, uploaded an acceptable photo, and paid the fee. I was...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Got the congratulations email today! This will thus be my penultimate update (ultimate update will be when certificate physically in hand). As a reminder, I applied for FBR for my son when he was three months old and thus by the time they began processing his application his photos were too old (ph...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks. At what address did you send the photos? The email they send you will tell you what the address is. Here is what the email that was sent to me said: Dear <redacted>, I am dealing with your child's application to obtain Irish Citizenship through entry on to the Foreign Births Register. Unfor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congratulations ! I applied for my daughter in Sep 2022 when she was 2 months old. I am seeing they are processing Aug 2022 applications now. Do you think it is good idea to voluntarily send the updated photos to the department now? Thx I wouldn't purely because I have a very low opinion of the FBR...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Got my son's confirmation of address email today! As a reminder, I applied for FBR for my son when he was three months old and thus by the time they began processing his application his photos were too old (photos for those under the age of two must be from within the last six months). Application s...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just to clarify: your grandparents were born on the island of Ireland, your father (their child) was born outside the island of Ireland, and yet your father was somehow registered on the the Foreign Birth Registrar? Are you sure about that? Children born outside the island of Ireland to parents who...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Dia duit! I haven't submitted my application yet but will be next week. I'm curious, what's the most complicated case when it comes to documents that was approved? I'm applying via my grandparents who were born in Ireland and moved to the US. My father was in the FBR and I was registered as well wh...

Wow! I submitted my son's online application in February 2021 with documents received in April 2021 (according to the United States Postal Service tracking, never got any confirmation of document receipt from the Irish authorities). I'll keep an eye on my email; it would be awesome to get approval c...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Wait, if they are only processing approximately 400 applications per week but are receiving about 2.5K applications per month, does that mean that the FBR waiting time is getting longer ? Does that mean that each week the processing time for future applicants increases? It probably did in recent mo...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was wondering, when my name is in the FBR that would signify that I am a Irish citizen born in another country , correct? If so could my adult son apply for his Irish citizenship seeing he was born to me? No, your son would not be eligible for Irish citizenship since your Irish citizenship throug...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the information. However, my dad is not an Irish citizen as he was born in the UK to an Irish mother but never applied for citizenship. Hence my issue is can I apply using my Grandmother without my dad registering first on the FBR (so skipping a generation)?? As the posters before me hav...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Everyone!! I'm new to this process and cannot find the answer I'm looking for on the FBR pages of the Irish Authorities. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I got tired/bored of waiting, so dropped off the application for my son with the USPS today. They said it would take 5-6 business days to get from the United States to Ireland. Application submitted: April 13th, 2021 I am hoping that this entire process (including Irish passport) is completed befor...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

If you think that's the case then basically you're attempting to queue jump ahead of those that respect the notice on the DFA website not to send in supporting documentation at this time. Eh, if the FBR staff process us first because we sent in documentation when they didn't want us to, then that's...
