Re: 180 day maximum stay per year on visitor visa?

Yes, I just have trouble interpreting guidance where specific values are given.

Eg is staying 180 consecutive days per year year seen as too frequent to an immigration official? It seems a bit too subjective and down to the whims of the immigration official you randomly meet at the border..

180 day maximum stay per year on visitor visa?

Hi for a 10 year validity visitor visa, with 180 days per stay, I had previously thought this meant you could stay for a max of 180 days in a given year. I just assumed it meant per year, but this article seems to imply it is more 180 days per visit: https://www.freemovement.org.uk/there-is-no-180-d...

Typing error on the home office exceptional assurance page?

Hi, I think I spotted an error on this page, could someone confirm? “If you have overstayed your leave If your visa or leave expired between 24 January 2020 and 31 August 2020 there will be no future adverse immigration consequences if you didn’t make an application to regularise your stay during th...

Re: Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

Actually would be interested In your opinion on this https://www.freemovement.org.uk/there-is-no-180-day-rule-for-visitors-to-the-uk/ I previously thought that the rule said you couldn’t come for more than 180 dad in a year , but I think I assumed that it was in a year: Here it seems to indicate tha...

Re: Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

Thanks yes the person in question is in her mid sixties.

The link above does seem specific to COVID, so was wondering if there is an exceptional assurance equivalent for non COVID..

Is there a helpline to discuss things like this or do we need to involve lawyers?

Re: Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

Thanks sorry is exceptional assurance just related to corona virus related matters, though, or was it a thing before COVID hit?

The guidance makes it only sound related to COVID measures:

Re: Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

(As I would be surprised if the next visa application in ten years time is affected by this extra visa application given how much turmoil there has been this year/last year in the world)

Re: Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

Thanks, they are here on a 180 day per year 10 year visa. When you say it could affect future applications, could it affect the existing 10 year visa? Ie could it be revoked?

(Travelling via Russia makes this trip a lot more difficult for an elderly person travelling on their own)

Notification of overstaying a visitor visa (type c)

Hi We have a grandparent staying with us who is due to fly back to their country after completing 180 days of her stay as stipulated by her visa. Though it now looks like the travel restrictions are going to be lifted, due to issues with the country in question (Belarus) all flights from the uk have...

Overstaying a tier c visitor visa due to travel restrictions

Hi We have a grandparent staying with us who is on a VISA that allows a six months stay in any one year in the uk. She’s due to travel back soon, but due to travel restrictions, it’s hard for her to get a ticket which means she might end up staying past the six months she’s officially meant to be he...

Re: Extending the 180 day limit on a type c visitor visa

Thanks all. Also have just been reading up on the requirements to get parents over on a more permanent visa and it sounds virtually impossible, so I guess the 180 day multi entry is the best that can be hoped for. Interesting how it’s so difficult (I would be able to say that we’d cover all healthca...

Re: Extending the 180 day limit on a type c visitor visa

I guess, what is the definition of working? Given she ‘s not being paid and is staying with us and happens to be watching the kids, is that a breach? What’s the expectation of the activities you partake in, on a tier c visa?

Re: Extending the 180 day limit on a type c visitor visa

Thanks for all the replies, and sorry for the slow response. So she’s on a tier c visa, multi entry, with 180 days duration and it’s valid for ten years. The reason we’d like her to stay longer this year is because she is effectively filling the role as nanny for our children at the moment (bit of a...

Extending the 180 day limit on a type c visitor visa

Hi We currently have a grandmother visiting us on a type c visa, which allows 180 days per trip. A couple of questions: 1. Is this 180 days in a calendar year? I take it she couldn’t leave the country for a week, and come back and do another 180 days in the same year? 2. Is there any way to extend t...
