Payment confirmation email: 22/5/22

So very close to the end of what can only be described as an immensely frustrating process....

Re: Do I need to send my new passport or certified copy of passport to department of justice?

It probably wouldn't hurt doing so. You sent the most valid on at the time off application, but giving them the most up to date information is never going to be a bad thing. I notified them when I changed jobs to make sure nothing fell back on me. Could save you some unexpected time in a years time ...

Re: Citizenship Applications From 2020 Pending Approval

I was approved on 13/5/22 and paid 15/5/22, still nothing via post or email regarding the ceremony invitation. 12 working days ago. Will give it another week. I have booked accommodation anyway for Killarney on the Sunday night as well as the day off work on 21st June, so I'm pre-empting it will go ...

Re: Citizenship Applications From 2020 Pending Approval

Applied August 2020, after hearing nothing for a year, I applied for FoI in Sept 2021. This showed that my application had been paper checked and Garda vetting completed Feb 2021. They also wanted my references signatures again (wet ink not digital) even though they paperwork check when I applied ha...

Re: Action after citizenship granted

I really cannot imagine any logical or practical way that it speeds up the process (assuming both applications are fully complete) - eg using a solicitor send off your application vs sending it yourself . You are not going to have your Garda vetting or documentation checked any faster just because a...

Re: Action after citizenship granted

ahah :) believe me the process is like everyone on this forum was a nightmare for me too. However, I can definitely say that doing all this via solicitor was a best choice for me. It definitely reduced the processing time. I hope all of you guys will hear good news soon. How do you draw the conclus...

Re: Naturalization Application - Preparation Questions

I'm in agreement with the above. "Last year inc 1 year continuous residence" meaning you didn't live in any other country. As you are non-EU, I assume your passport was stamped on exit and entry for them to verify your days out of the county? So as long as this adds up to less than 6 weeks then you ...

Re: Current processing time updated to 23 months

All covid did was highlight how woeful and outdated the processes are under the current system. Applications were never going to slow down, literally as time was going on people were able to acquire more reckonable residency so applications only going to increase and make the backlog worse. More aki...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

This conversation has gone from tiresome to bordering on farcical. The official website has no legal standing? So all of that advice should be taken with a pinch of salt, because Shakey here knows more about Citizenship law that the INIS. Ok so. For the third time, the OP should seek advice fr...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

Read the OP again. His great-grandmother was born in Ontario, and their parents were born in Wexford. That's 5 generations back, with no residency or FBR. Now as per your link - https://www.irishimmigration.ie/citizenship/applications-based-on-irish-descent-or-irish-associations/ "An Irish associati...

Re: Irish Citizenship Application - Irish References

My situation was slightly different regarding references. I was with my Irish partner for many years but since we split would be difficult for me to approach her or her family for references, so that made things difficult. I didn't want to put landlords down as they cannot really represent me, one n...

Thanks very much Vorona for the reply. Do you have please references to confirm it should be hand written. I could not see anything like that in here: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/form-CTZ3.pdf Page 16 Use a black pen and PRINT IN BLOCK CAPITALS Thanks very much Vorona...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

I'm not sure why you are getting so defensive on this. I am sharing my opinions because they mirror what the OP was asking. When I did research via official channels (pre-covid), it was told to me that it would be very very unlikely to get citizenship on great-grandparent association, only with exce...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

"It's going to be 2 years in a few months time since I became a full time resident in Ireland" The OP was asking whether his great grandparent gave them any associated entitlement to Irish Citizenship, of which it does not. So I was suggesting that they, just like myself who found themselves in that...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

This should explain everything: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/citizenship/applications-based-on-irish-descent-or-irish-associations/ In short you are eligible to apply under Irish Associations. That is incorrect, its even in your link. "An Irish association through a great-grandparent, (or a gran...
