Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Thank you. My birth certificate is very basic so not much to translate I believe. My parents already posted the original version to Germany but the delivery might take a while due to the COVID situation overthere. Once my husband gets it he will bring it to a professional translator in Berlin. My fr...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Hello, thanks so much. Yes I get your point. Totally makes sense. So I can just go to Germany, book an online appointment, say somewhere in Feb and then carry the confirmation, together with the marriage certificate and the registration and it should be fine. I am going to take a break, and meanwhil...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Thank you so much! I found your information super helpful. My husband and I actually talked to a lawyer to day and paid a hefty amount but the info she gave was so little compared to yours. So basically I would not be illegal even when my visa expires? Do you know for how long I can overstay? Let's ...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Hi ALKB (apologise I don't know your name :) ) I hope you're doing well. I want to give you some updates on my case. We reached Poland as planned. We consulted a Polish professional lawyer and he said yes, I can totally apply for the Temporary Residence to stay longer in Poland. However, it can take...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Thanks so much for responding 🙏 We married in Dec 2020 so defo it’s more than 3 months old. However we really doubt that bit of info. What if someone just came over to Poland and married a Polish citizen only for visa purpose? So we will check at the office once we reach Poland (tried to call them a...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Hello, apologies for the late response and again, thanks so much for your help on this. It’s been a lot for us over the last few days. After much consideration we’ve decided to reside in Poland for a short while before moving to Germany (to avoid the initial hassles). Highly chance that his company ...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

And if, just if, we both would stay here in Schengen and find a permanent place to stay, which means my visa would be expired by then, would I get a fine/ be deported? Would it affect my records afterwards? We really don’t want that to happen so we are considering both options whether we should stay...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Hello, In case we are not able to find a place to register the address before my current visa expires on the 10th Oct, we both would have to go back to the UK together. Is it still possible for me to apply for the residence visa from the UK? Of course my husband and I will stick together all the way...

Re: Switching EU visa type C to spouse visa

Thanks for the reply! One more question, if we'd be unable to find an accomodation to rent out for long-term in Germany within this short time frame, would they be okay with us using a temporary address for the application, say Airbnb? Apparently my in-laws are in Poland so my husband always uses hi...

Re: Travelling from UK to EU if a non-EU/UK with EU Scheme Pre Settled status

Hi Liam, I am Vietnamese but live in the UK together with my Polish husband. I have obtained the pre-settled status earlier this year. I am currently in Spain for holidays with my husband and in order to cross the border, I had to apply for 3-month visa. So I believe same goes to your wife since she...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Hi everyone, I've been longing for my visa outcome and I've got it today. 90 days with multiple entries! There was nothing to worry about. Just submitted my current Residence Card and my Marriage Cert. together with the application. Things were seamless and straight forward. Hopefully anyone experie...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

To be exact, what they said is "You need to update your details with the Home Office first, then apply for a visa." which I assumed it's about my current marriage. Am I correct?

Previously they asked if my name was changed after the marriage but I already told them that I never change my surname.

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Hi everyone, I've been exchanging emails back and forth with the Embassy of Poland and so far their conclusion is that I can apply for my visa under European's Family Memeber category. However before applying I need to inform with Home Office about my current marriage status, which I find very confu...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

I have found this link and from there I understand that as long as I'll travel with my Polish husband, I can apply for visa as a family member of an European. https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/non-eu-family/index_en.htm#residence-card-doc-no There are required documents: Visa a...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Thank you for your reply. I have applied for my pre-settlement scheme and been waiting for the final result. Pre-settlement due to the nature of my previous marriage (it lasted under 5 years). So you mean with my current Residence Card, even when it's converted to Pre-settlement status, I won't be a...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Yes, I am aware that I will have to apply for Schengen visa. On the list of documents required, a valid passport with a residence permit in UK is listed. What I am concerned rn is my current residence permit is on the basis of my first marriage with my ex-husband while I will be travelling with my n...

Re: Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am so sorry I made a terrible mistake on my first post. We both are British residents (not citizens) It was "visa-free" before Brexit. Since 1st Jan 2021 the law has been changed and now non-European family member has to apply for visa in order to travel to Europe (even ...

Schengen visa with 5-year Residence Card on the basic of ex-husband who was EU national

Hello, Please can anyone help me out? I've been searching all possible corners but so far no luck. I am Vietnamese national (holding Vietnamese passport) but have been living in the UK since 2014. I got married and divorced with my then husband who was a French (but we were both UK citizens). After ...
