Re: Referee - Professional Standing Query

Actually there was another discussion here on this very point recently. https://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/help-please-referee-requirement-t324638.html#p2052202 What I think is certain is that the combination British Citizen/British Residence and (for the professional referee) Bri...

Re: Referee - Professional Standing Query

The referee of professional standing does not need to be British. The other one does. Neither needs to live in the UK.

Re: Declaration of Parking Charge Notice (Private) on Naturalisation application

You can search for "PCN." Advice from respected gurus tends to vary between "no need to declare" and "declare it for peace of mind but it will not affect your application unless there is a a pattern of behaviour." As you know, they do not even bother to check who was the actual driver was in the cas...

Re: Missing passport stamp - travel to Ireland

P60s are sufficient. Not guaranteed. According to the document below A P60 for a 12-month period (the caseworker may request additional evidence to confirm that the person has been resident in the UK for at least six months of that period). The 6 month period is particularly important if OP visited...

Re: Missing passport stamp - travel to Ireland

The documents you suggested will be helpful. No return airline ticket or boarding pass in your wife's name? Or an email confirming your wife's flight details? And a bank or credit card statement showing that she made a payment while in the UK very shortly after her flight back? You will be fine. If ...

You will probably sail through the e-gates just like qntnuk did. We are talking about the unlikely, but possible, event of you being stopped and then asked what your reasons are for visiting the UK.

Re: Travelling on a foreign passport after naturalisation

Your right to live in the UK is no longer dictated by your settled status. It is your citizenship that counts and this is what they check. So take a copy of your naturalisation certificate. And say that you are going to apply for a British passport. This will speed things up if you are stopped and q...

Re: Naturalization application More than six month but no reply from HO

I understand your frustration. But it really is too early to take action. You have been waiting 7 months, and that is only one month outside the guidelines, and only 3 weeks since your brother heard that he was successful.

Re: British mother in Canada on the brink of the divorce

Naturalisation through marriage means there is no intent to settle in the UK requirement. So applying for a first British passport from Canada was fine. Hopefully she was able to send all the documents they asked for.
The upcoming divorce sounds horrible. She urgently needs legal advice in Canada.

Re: Travelling after naturalization without British Passport

I know strictly speaking you have to travel with a British passport That's not true. The UK is not like the US, South Africa or Poland. You can travel with any passport. But if you live in the UK you may be asked to prove your entitlement to do this, on return. In this situation showing a British p...

UK Child Visa requirement prior to section 3(5) citizenship application

A divorced parent, British citizen by descent, with a 12 year non-British child, wishes to move to the UK, with the child, next year. The objective is to attain British citizenship for the child, via section 3(5), after 3 years residence. The parent has the consent of the ex-partner. Does the child ...

Apply here: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports
Online applications are very easy. You are told if you can apply online, which documents you need to provide, and where to send them. Online applications are not possible from a few countries, but I think you will be fine with Paraguay.

Do we have enough information to conclude this? OP needs to be British otherwise than by descent. He doesn't say that he was born in the UK.

Does the form specify that nationality information must be provided in the order that these nationalities were acquired? If not, then British is most important. You must be a citizen of the UK, The Commonwealth or The Republic of Ireland to join the Armed Forces. So it makes sense to me that this co...

Re: Application Refused - is it worth to appeal?

Did you apply online? The website normally does a good job of asking detailed questions, then telling you what documents you should provide, whether you are a British citizen already (sometimes that happens, an agreeable surprise for the applicant) or if you do not qualify. You can ask your friend w...

Did you or your wife already have ILR when your child was born in the UK? If so he is automatically British born. You can then apply directly for his first passport.

If they happened abroad and didn't lead to a criminal conviction (like driving drunk for example) I would just avoid mentioning them at all in the naturalisation form. Risky. The instructions are clear. If they discover the offences they may consider it deception, which will lead to OP not being ab...

Re: Naturalisation/Citizenship and Traffic/Speeding Fines abroad.

If applying for citizenship wasn't so expensive I would just say 'go for it.' But it's a lot of money! My feeling is that it might go either way. You were a persistent offender in the past. No getting around that. But they were minor offences, and you have a perfect record since 2015. I don't think ...

They have a demerit point system in Australia. So they will also probably be interested in the points incurred. You can read these official guidelines, in particular the section about Persistent Offenders https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file...

First, get a copy of your credit report. Google "credit report" to find reputable companies that can provide one. Then you will know what your precise situation is, in detail, and we can discuss it further here if you wish.
