Absence Allowance - Renewing Unmarried Partner Visa

Hello, I'm looking for some advice/guidance around how to approach the periods of absence for our unmarried partner visa renewal submission. I haven't been able to find any definitive information on how much time one must spend in the UK to qualify for visa renewal. In our case, my partner had to ...

Re: Refund for withdrawn application

Have you read the caseworker guidance for processing refunds ? Which category do you come under? Withdrawals. We are perfectly entitled to a refund as we withdrew only a couple of weeks after submitting the application and long before the biometrics appointment which we cancelled. And even if we ...

Re: Refund for withdrawn application

Update for anyone following along or in future. STILL no refund for our application withdrawn on 14/10. Over 2 months. I called UKVI and they escalated it after 6 weeks, told me to call back if still no refund after another 10 working days. That time also passed so I called back and they have now ...

Re: Refund for withdrawn application

I submitted the form to withdraw the application 2-3 weeks ago. Haven't heard anything since. It's a shame there wasn't even a confirmation email to say that the process was initiated and here's your reference number! Lucky I jotted it down (starting ROD..) but where do I put this in to check on the ...

Refund for withdrawn application

Hello, I've read the terms of the refund policy for withdrawn applications (https://www.gov.uk/cancel-visa/get-refund) but upon withdrawing, on the final screen, you are made to agree to a declaration which includes, as the very first item, "if I withdraw an application, the fee will not be refunded ...

Re: Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

Thanks. I have one more query. In the process to withdraw the application that we submitted too early, the final page makes you agree to "if I withdraw an application, the fee will not be refunded;" (see image) but surely this is depending on circumstances rather than a blanket fee will not be ...

Re: Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

I've found this by going into the Your right to work service, it gives the date of 27/4/2025. From her date of entry (16/9/2022) that's 31 months, why the extra month? So now need to withdraw the visa renewal application. What do we need to do to ensure she can travel in and out once the BRP expires ...

Re: Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

Thanks for the info. She didn't enter until mid September 2022, does this affect things? I thought the 2.5 year visa started on the valid from date (27/7/22) and as long as there is no substantial absence (more than 6 months per year) then the full 2.5 years is considered as accrued? Also, I ...

Re: Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

It seems we may have applied for the extension too early (even if the expiry was 31/12?) How can we find out the exact date of visa expiry in absence of the approval letter? When we log in to her UKVI account (apply-to-visit-or-stay-in-the-uk.homeoffice.gov.uk/dashboard) it only shows the expiry of ...

Re: Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

Her BRP might expire in December as all of them do, but when exactly does her visa expire based on the approval letter? What date was the current visa issued? You may have applied too early if the expiry date is actually some time in 2025, meaning there will be a shortfall to apply for ILR. Thanks ...

Travel abroad while waiting for visa renewal decision

Hello, We have submitted my unmarried partner's visa renewal family route as her BRP expires 31 Dec. We are currently in UK and have her appointment booked for end of October with TLScontact to do the biometric stuff. My question: are we free to travel after this appointment? I take it she will just ...

Fee waiver question

Hello, To be eligible for a fee waiver one of the ways is to show that you cannot afford the fee (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/applications-for-a-fee-waiver-and-refunds/fee-waiver-human-rights-based-and-other-specified-applications#bookmark13) My question is, if you successfully prove ...

To renew or not to renew...

Hi all, My unmarried partner's visa expires on 31/12/24 and we are debating whether or not to renew. She is a Colombian citizen and, when we first got the visa, Colombian's weren't permitted to enter the UK as tourists whereas they can now enter for 6 months without visa, so she could re-enter the ...

Re: Appeal allowed :)

Update (or not). We still haven't heard anything from UKVI, it's now over 3 months since the judge allowed our appeal. I've chased them a couple of times but I got a generic, copy and pasted, message back both times, then when I press them for something more specific, I get a short message back just ...

Re: Unmarried partner visa refused - unable to demonstrate co-habitation

I am registered to this address with Colombian immigration, but I don't believe there is any mechanism to access/request those records. The good news is since yesterday we have now found a utility bill in my name, it's for the water service. The bills for that arrived digitally and to an old email ...

Re: Unmarried partner visa refused - unable to demonstrate co-habitation

Thanks for your replies so far. We do not visit each other for a few months each year, we live in Colombia together and a few times a year I have to return to the UK for work. There's no tenancy agreement as the apartment is fully owned. Utility bills in Colombia are always in the homeowners name ...
