Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Do we really have to know the witnesses personally? I don't have anyone from the list of professions who could do this, or could I just go to the police station good enough? I'm not sure where you're located, but I would think going to the police station should be good enough. I'm located in the US...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks Sooze. I have a slightly different question about the confirmation of address email. Does the email say if there is a deadline for responding, or what happens if you do not respond? I am going to be totally off the grid for 2 weeks (I'm a Feb 2020). I have not moved, so my address is the sam...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Hi all, I’m a UK applicant via FBR, recently I sent off all my documents but my ID was a Color photocopy of my passport signed and verified by my witness who also signed the verification page. Now I am reading that people were submitting their original passports. Is this a must? I sent a nota...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Are you going somewhere without internet or cell phone access? You could always set up that email on your phone no? If not, just to note, it is possible (in gmail anyway) to set up an auto-response to specific addresses. So you could setup an auto-response to an email from the dfa.ie address. Not s...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

So far I'm glad I did not send my original passport. Re: FBR - What exactly does the witness have to witness?

The FBR application does not require the same witness for the application and your ID vs. the Irish parent's ID. I was in the same situation as you, my mother lives 350-400 miles away and doesn't really travel any more. My sisters live closer to my mother so I gave them the list of approved witnesse...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

When ID's are notarized it's best to add a declaration statement . For me it was like this: I, ( full name on ID), declare that this is a valid, true copy of my official US passport. Usually the notary is just stamping that it is you signing Not that the ID is true & valid. They can't do that They ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Seeing as it's been clearly stated that they plan on allocating more resources to the FBR with a view of reducing turnaround times, I actually wonder if that current 2 years waiting time could reduce and people who submit might get it slightly earlier than the currently listed time of 2 years? Or a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration - 2021 processing

https://www.kildarestreet.com/wrans/?id=2021-10-19a.1186 The FBR processed more applications than normal in 2018 & 2019; it looks like they've cut back to 5,000-6,000 per year, the pre Brexit pre covid level. Without urgent applications, they could process the current backlog of 32,000 applications...

<SNIP> Thanks. My issue is that I applied online in March but held off sending my documents because they've asked us not to. The passport expired in May. I'm furious to think I've held myself up by actually doing what they asked. I've seen others comment that it was futile sending them while proces...
