Re: Irish citizenship by birth for kids of EU citizens.

UK citizens have the right to move to Ireland and have the same right's as Irish from day one, they have the right to vote in Dail elections ect. EU citizens have to be exercising treaty rights e.g find a job within 3 months, show they can support and not able to claim welfare until a certain point....

Re: Stamp 6 in British Passport

Thanks all - When I was looking last night I thought it was a bit of a waste of time but just wanted to check.
Could think of many things I'd rather do in Dublin than sitting around in the immigration offices for no reason!

Stamp 6 in British Passport

I hold both Irish and British passports. Although I live in Britain, I always travel on the Irish passport. Ive been advised by a family member in Ireland to have the stamp 6 put into the British passport given everything in the news lately, as a back up if I only have the British passport for any r...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, I'm pretty sure only maiden names are put onto the certificates. Mine has my mum's maiden name although I sent in details of her married name. You should be fine with the passport. If you want it in your married name, send in your marriage certificate and they should do it with that name. Hi eve...

Re: Uncancelled passports

hi secret Simon Thanks for your response. Talking to the Irish passport office, it seems they only cancel their passports if the holder dies before it expires. That's fine, I think she still has her old ones someone, its just going to be a pain (and possibly expensive) to send back 3/4 passports eve...

Uncancelled passports

Hi, My mum has been using her Irish passport for the last 25 years, but now wants to get a British one (Dual Citizen). HMPO are requiring she send in all uncancelled passports. The thing is, Ireland doesn't 'cancel' passports the same way the UK does. When it expires, she just sends off the applicat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well, today has come and gone (at least in terms of Dublin work hours), so I've officially made it into the honorable club of address confirmed 1+ months ago, congratulations pending. Was really hoping those days were behind us, but I'm going to hold out hope my certificate doesn't arrive when I'm ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

With all due respect, what the British government has negotiated (and agreed!) is not a concern of the Irish Government - Their concern is the safety of their employees, and, speaking with a family member who works at DFA, they only ever expedite claims in pregnancy, so the child will still have the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I also think its distasteful comparing yourself to an asylum seeker! You are also living in a safe country and don't have to flee in fear of your life! There is no comparison! ou are living in Britain, with a British passport, that many of the asylum seeker you are comparing yourself to are dying (l...

Informing HMPO of other passports

Hi, I am looking at renewing my British passport, however I need my other passport (Ireland) to go away next month. I did not have the Irish passport last time I applied for the British passport, so they are not aware I hold this. Do I have to tell HMPO re the other passport, and would they be able ...
