Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023

We were at the ceremony in June, just myself and my husband. They said strictly one guest per person and no children. They split us up on arrival with guests going upstairs and those getting citizenship downstairs. Nobody checked the guests at all. Loads of people had kids and you could have easily ...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

They defo came back and asked my husband for his original. Said they can't verify the certified.copies currently because of the backlog in the citizenship department they don't have the time to verify for the passport office. We sent the original when they asked and it only delayed the application b...

Re: Marriage with non Eu

Its not as simple as that. Depends on a number of factors, how long is he here and how long can he stay, does he need a visa. You need to register your intent to marry 3 months prior to marriage, since he is non eu you will both need to attend an interview prior to being allowed to register your int...

Dual Passports and travel to home country

Hi All, Now that my husband has received his Irish passport he holds both a US and Irish passport. We travel to the US in just a few weeks and I'm just wondering the process of traveling with two passports. For the US, if you hold a US passport you must travel on this document when entering the US. ...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

I suppose the good news is you should get your passport quicker than 2 months when you finally get your cert as long as your documents are in order and if you do an online application and not by post. My husbands passport arrived yesterday and took 4 weeks total including time for them asking for ad...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Now I guess we will have to await the same email for my husbands application. Wont make a difference now as we will just have to send the original, but you should all write to your TD and complain. I've just done the same. Its an absolute joke for them to say they are accepted, and then turn around ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

They can require the originals of any document in a certain number of cases its up to their discretion. They also tend to send more applications to "secondary verification" if they don't have a PSC card as its their preferred ID document. It isn't right to say they can't process an application witho...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Contacted them by webchat today as application still says documents required.
Apparently his application is processing with an estimated issue date of 05/09 but the tracker can take some time to update.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

My husbands still has no estimated date listed on his yet.
In one of the other discussions on naturalisation certificates, someone had submitted their application and received the passport back and all within 2 weeks. Crazy.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Documents received by passport office on the 8th of August, tracker still saying we need your documents before ...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

No idea I'd say it just stays as it is, just an odd thing to print on it when it isnt permanent. No need really. Also just for timeline sake. Attended ceremony 20th June, same date on cert. Date on letter accompanying cert, 8th of July. Delivered today. So almost a month between the letter being wri...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

My husband received his this morning.
I find it so strange that they have your address written on it, its not a permanent thing.
Especially those renting, they could change address frequently.

I'd say their forms/website just isn't updated correctly. Seems like its not required if you can provide one of the other documents.

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023

Actually lads I'd say this answers it:

https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/qu ... -05-10/37/

No requirement for original cert of naturalization or original foreign passport IF you can supply a copy of PSC or certified license.
I'd say their forms/website just isn't updated correctly.

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023

This is very helpful, 2 questions regarding this; - Is original passport mandatory? Application cover page says it is not, confirmation email says it is :). Also the webpage says it is not mandatory if you send the copy of PSC card. (I cannot send my passport, I have mandatory trips in August and S...

Re: Upcoming Ceremony in 2023

Guys Mine was on the 19th. Cert delivered in 2 wks. I than applied for passport online and today the postman dropped an envelope in my letterbox which contains my shiny new red passport. Passport card is also at printing stage. I thank immigration boards for letting me talk through my case and ask ...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

They could even be sending out the certificates in small batches slowly and deliberately so as not to overwhelm the passport office with ~5000 applications in one go? Could be possible?

Re: When do you submit IRP card

After the ceremony when you will apply for passport I think you need to send your IRP card to them. Just guess.. Nope, they just need the certificate. You have to send your passport, though, so you won't be able to travel in the meantime, but that's another story. According to the passport website,...

Re: When do you submit IRP card

We just came back from holiday two days ago, and were at the ceremony in June. No cert yet. Presented the IRP card as normal in the airport on re-entry, stamped the entry stamp as normal and nothing was asked or said. We are going away next weekend for the Aug bank holiday and in Sept to visit my hu...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

Personally I'd save my money and just wait a few more weeks for the certificate instead of wasting it on a solicitor. Use the money to treat yourself to something nice to celebrate when you get the cert. Have you ever gone to court for anything in this country? It isnt quick. My father died 12 years...

Could somebody who has received a certificate tell me if it was sent registered post? Did you need to sign for it? Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

Obviously it's a huge step backwards that they don't just give the cert on the day, but it is what it is at this point. The whole system needs to be digitalised in its entirety. Unfortunately the vast majority of Irish public services are very antiquated with Revenue being the one exception as they ...

Re: Naturalisation certificate post ceremony timeframe

I think you all need to calm down 🤣 We haven't gotten my husbands yet either. We haven't had it for the last 7 years and we managed, I think we will manage a few more weeks. The hard part is done. I'd say any of us will be lucky to see passports before November to be honest. My colleague recently go...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Could someone please tell me the required documents to apply for a first time passport after naturalisation?
