Things to do after receiving British citizenship

Is there something like a checklist of things I should do after naturalisation? So far I have this: Get on the electoral register Get a provisional driving licence (BRP is gone so need a new ID card) For those who need to report it to the country of their first citizenship - report it Do I need to t...

Re: First Adult passport after Naturalisation - Official Observation doesn't make sense

Oops…. Not familiar with the official observations but they have a specific policy on this https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/observations-in-passports/observations-in-passports-accessible The observation are not specifically part of the personal data. Informational only. I can imagine a cu...

Re: First Adult passport after Naturalisation - Official Observation doesn't make sense

Raise the matter with HMPO and get the required corrections done.
I am travelling in 10 days. Is this likely to mess up my plans?

Also how do I get in touch with them? Is this the right form to fill out?

First Adult passport after Naturalisation - Official Observation doesn't make sense

Have just received my First Adult passport after Naturalisation. The passport office managed to make not one ...

Re: Question about parents nationality

Parents clearly hold Russian nationality so you could say YES and explain Israeli nationality separately if you can as part of the form, or attach a covering note explaining this aspect. Not an issue. The purpose of the question is to ascertain whether an applicant may be British already through th...

Question about parents nationality

Hey, so I've just reached the point in my application where I'm being asked about parents nationality, and I am confused. Both my parents: Were born in the USSR Hold Russian citizenship Hold Israeli citizenship since 2022 The form asks three questions: Country of birth - that's USSR Country of natio...

Re: A few questions around dates

Just to clarify, one of the reasons I started this topic is that the FAQ says I should be in the UK on the application date. I am trying to understand if it's okay to leave the UK in the middle of the application date, or that's not allowed

A few questions around dates

Hi everyone, I'm approaching 1 year on ILR and would like to clarify a few questions around dates before applying for citizenship. My situation is: Received ILR on 22-11-2021 (approval email came in around 14:00). Spent 85 days outside the UK since then (assuming I'm counting them correctly - see be...

Re: Maintaining ILR status

I've seen a pretty good explanation here, unfortunately it seems to be not as easy as that: Third party solicitor weblink removed by moderator Following from the information above, common sense would dictate that an absence of less than 2 years would allow a person to keep their ILR and return to th...

Re: **** COVID19 and UKVCAS Appointments **** (ONLY discuss here)

So how did all those people from the ILR TIMELINES thread manage to get appointments 1-2 days after submitting their application?? Just submitted mine and the first one available at the premium lounge (London Mark Lane) is on Nov 22 (but you still have to pay £199 for an appointment that is 8 days a...

PLease do NOT start new posts and stick to this thread for your ILR :!:
All electronic evidence is accepted. Use the PDF file
Thanks a lot Zimba and sorry for that, thought of sticking to the original thread but then decided to start a new one because it is a different sort of issue.

5 days to ILR application, can't get a bank statement because of a "technical issue"

Okay so this is the most hilarious issue I never thought I would face while applying for ILR, but here we go. I have been with Barclays for 6 years and they never missed a single monthly statement - it would have always been generated by the 5th of the next month. This time, however, I have not rece...

Re: Tier 2 to ILR - Any need to declare the "absence" between vignette start date and first entry date?

NO need to declare the first gap. It will count but no need to declare Thanks very much, really appreciated. One more question if you don't mind: back in 2016, I passed IELTS for UKVI (IELTS Academic that has a UKVI reference number on it). I can see that: 1. "IELTS for UKVI" is still on the approv...

Tier 2 to ILR - Any need to declare the "absence" between vignette start date and first entry date?

I've been in the UK on Tier 2 (General) for almost 5 years now. The vignette "valid from" date is 12 December 2016 and I first entered the UK on 17 December 2016. As discussed many times on this forum, the first date I can apply is (12 December 2016 + 5 years - 28 days), as the period between 12 and...

Re: Tier 2 to ILR: Which date to subtract 28 days from?

1. No sooner than within 28 days before the 5th anniversary of your initial entry clearance visa start date. Thanks very much. So it is 2016-12-12 in my case, right? Funnily enough, I was just reading this thread where the advice from CULLINAN (guru) / Zimba (mod) was to use the BRP date if it's ea...

Tier 2 to ILR: Which date to subtract 28 days from?

I know this topic has been discussed here a few times before, but I thought I'd still ask again for my own piece of mind / in case something changed recently. Here is my timeline: 2016-11-30: Received an email saying "A decision has been made on your UK Visa application" 2016-12-12: This is the "Val...
