Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

While I'm waiting for my fbr to arrive in the post, does it make sense to do the passport application online now? I''ll put the passport docs off in the mail just as soon as the fbr arrives as I want to wrap up this whole process asap! You could apply now, but they will not start the process until ...

Re: FBR Citizenship Through Grandparent Issues

It sounds like you have little to no chance, unfortunately, and that can be gauged by the outcome of your father's application decision . To gain approval, the onus is on yourself to prove citizenship through descent but if the available official records contradict what you have then it would be imp...

Re: Confused, citizenship through grandparent or parent

You would have to apply to have your daughter's name added to the FBR as she is basing it on an Irish born grandparent

Re: Registering foreign birth based on foreign birth grandparent?

Hi! I've got a question similar to the original post. I'm seeking to apply for Irish citizenship through descent (FBR). I'll try to sum it up below: 1. Great-grandparents born on the island of Ireland 2. Grandparent born abroad, registered as a foreign birth, returned to Ireland to live permanently...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

This may be a silly question, but I've heard reference to it. I submitted my first passport application recently after FBR approval. Are applications prioritized based on citizenship sources? In other words are passport applications of FBR citizens prioritized below other citizens? Doesn't really m...

Re: Citizenship refusal

It's not a waste of time. You have lived in Ireland since 2009 and are married to a citizen, so you should apply. Although you have a conviction (which should be spent by now), it will be at the discretion of the DFA to ascertain if you meet their citizenship requirements. If you don't go for it you...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

A question for anyone who finished the process: Does your paperwork that you sent in get returned with your passport card or does it come under seperate cover later on? And if it get sent seperately, does the tracking number get added to the passport tracking page? Thanks in advance. The Irish pass...

Re: Petition for UK passport e-gates to recognise Irish passport cards

The issue I have with this is that the Irish passport card is really only valid for travel within the EU as an identity document. Whilst it is possible to enter the UK by showing a passport card given the special travel relationship between Ireland and the UK, the passport card will not be accepted ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Hi all, just recently moved over to this thread from the FBR thread. I have a question I hope someone can answer. My name was changed legally when I was kid, basically my first and middle names were swapped. In the passport application online it asks: "My birth certificate name or naturalised name ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Breakthrough today - my passport was dispatched! But, there's not tracking number on the online tracker. All it says is "Dispatched: Your Passport Book was posted on 04/08/2022" Didn't they used to include the tracking number in the past? Mine took about a day to update from dispatched and display ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

On what basis did you acquire Irish citizenship and in which country do you live? Is the request to supply an original passport consistent with the document requirements at https://www.dfa.ie/passports/documentary-requirements/anadult/firsttimeapplicantbornabroad/ ? Irish citizenship through natura...

Thanks Hannah! Just to check - do you mean after you receive the Irish passport? So they keep it during the entire processing time?
I got my passport two weeks ago. The original documents were all sent back at the same time - they hold on to it all until the whole process is completed

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

This is quite strange as there ar...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

At the moment, it appears that passports typically get printed 4 - 6 weeks after the estimated issue date. The DFA say the passport backlog is reducing but the wait times betray that. Plenty of first time passports have recently been printed only a few days after the status changed to processing an...

At the moment, it appears that passports typically get printed 4 - 6 weeks after the estimated issue date. The DFA say the passport backlog is reducing but the wait times betray that. If that's the case, then why did they reduce the advertised turnaround time from 30 to 25 working days in June? And...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

My application has been 'In Processing' since 04/07. Have just been told it's done nothing since then other than sit in a queue waiting to be allocated to someone. So frustrating. It would be much better if they managed people's expectations by being honest about current processing times. It will s...

Hello, How long does it take to get your original passport back? Do they send with the acknowledgment receipts? Thank you I got my Irish passport last week, and all of the original documents were returned the same day, but posted separately. They don't send them back until the process is complete.

Now it's time to sort out FBR for my daughters. Best of l...
