Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I made it through the FBR process in 8 months from docs arrival to certificate in my hand, all went very smooth. However, getting the passport is turning out to be tricky * Got estimate 4 weeks out for when passport would be sent out, a week after that date I get an email saying they could not conta...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Anyone know how Christmas/new year impacts FBR applications? I assume 1/2 the staff is on holiday this week and then everyone is out of the office (is it actually closed?) the 2 weeks afterwards?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The google sheet tracker shows the most recent "address confirmation" was sent on Nov 17th for an application received march 26th 2023, the "application approved" emails appear to then be sent out 1-4 weeks later

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This is the address check email, it’s a very good sign, it means they have reviewed everything and it looks good, they probably do one more final review. The “application approved” email is next and should arrive in 1-4 weeks, 1-2 weeks after that the actual FBR certificate and your original docs. i...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

What experience have folks had with the Irish grandparent birth certificate using a name that they later shortened? Our grandfather had no less than 5 names on his Irish birth certificate, but as early as university he was using just 3 of them (first, middle, last) and for his last name he was using...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I see lots of mentions of "original documents", is this the common understanding of that that means: A) Original: This is the very 1st one (aka original) issued by the government at the time of event: birth, marriage, death, in some cases it will have original signatures, but not always depending on...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you for doing all the hard-work and updating the spreadsheet. It's very helpful. Thanks, but it's not all me. The spreadsheet is open for anyone to add their data to it. I check in with this thread every few days and update the sheet as required. Hi Thanks for looking after the spreadsheet. I...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So your intuition is telling you that the printing effort might take a week or two more than it has in the past, for a paperwork process that takes around a year from submitting online app to actually having a passport in your hand....who cares?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The table below shows the change in processing time over the past 4 years based on the posted data (link below) For example, in 2019 for 121 applications received, it took 20.7 months to go from "documents received" email to "address confirmation" email. Compare that to 2 applications received in Au...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Question about siblings in different countries. There are 4 of us currently residing in 2 countries...we all share the same Irish grandfather, we all want to get our FBR. FBR web site says that siblings can submit multiple applications in one envelope all sharing the same ancestral certificates, but...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I just got my acceptance email...so right now it appears 10 business days between packet delivery and email acceptance In 2023, is there a rule of thumb of how long it typically takes between an application packet arriving date at the FBR office and when its receipt is acknowledged via email? Some f...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In 2023, is there a rule of thumb of how long it typically takes between an application packet arriving date at the FBR office and when its receipt is acknowledged via email? Some folks seem to get the acceptance email within days of the packet delivery and while others (mostly in 2021/22) never got...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is my parent's marriage certificate a red herring for my FBR application? My father's father is the one born in Ireland , and my father's name is on my birth certificate, so the fact my parents were (or were not) married is irrelevant. I ask because I easily tracked down all relevant certificates ex...
