Hi Casa The guy conducting the Nikah (religoius marriage) has to be a registered Nikah Khavan. It is his responsibility to submit one original copy of nikah nama (marriage certificate) to the local council and get it registered. So in short as long as the nikah was presided over by a registered nika...

Hi John Just to clarify, it is legal marriage in Pakistan. The Islamic / religious marriage and registration happens at the same time. You fill multiple copies of Nikah nama (marriage certificate) and they all are signed by both bride, groom and all the witnesses. One of the copy is send to local co...

As far as I know you have to change your status to a) ILR (as your wife's dependent) or b) apply for a two year spouse visa if you wife gets ILR as then you would be married to someone who is settled here. The easiest option would be to include yourself as a dependent in your wife's ILR application.

Hiya It should be ok to apply in Aug 10 since your absences in the preceding year would be 90 days or less however do keep in mind that nationality rules are due to change and it I was you, I would apply sooner rather than later. There is some discretion in the absences but it all depends on individ...

Howdy

There should be no problem you and your wife attending separate ceremonies. Although do keep in mind that you have to attend a citizenship ceremony within a certain period of the letter issued to you. (I don't remember the date exactly but it was probably 90 days from the letter)

Here is my take When you apply and successfully aply for ILR you need to apply a spouse visa for your wife (two year visa). 28 days before expiry of spouse visa your wife can apply for ILR. The only other way around could be if you wait till you are married for two years and then apply together. Tha...

As per my calculations 05/1/2010 provided you were in UK on 05/1/2005 as well.

Ofcourse you can apply yourself first and once approved your wife can apply immediately (three year residence, spouse of a British citizen).

ps i assume you had continous residence i.e wp 25/04/04 to 06/04/2005.

For naturalization, residency requirement needs to met individually i.e. your wife does not automatically become naturalized if your application is successful. The residency criteria is five years (last one year on ILR) or Three years with ILR on the date of application for spouse of a British citiz...

Peejay If your wife has ILR, you don't need to do anything. You apply for naturalization first and once that is approved apply for your wife with a three year residency period. Rob As stated before, you and your wife cannot apply for naturalization at the same time. You can either wait till 2011 whe...

Hello Scottish NCS office are a bit notorious to get through to. You need to keep trying i.e. leave voice message or send emails however if you live close to one of these offices (Hamilton, East Kilbride or Lanark) you can actually walk in and book an appointment. From my experience it was just a br...

HSMP where was your child born? If the child was born outside the UK it would be a 3(1) application and that is a discretion. If birth is in UK to parents who are now settled it would be 1(3) and that is an entitlement. In my case, my son was born in Pakistan so the application was under 3(1). Moreo...

I successfully registered my son when he was around 1 year old (after I got my citizenship) so I don't think three years residency requirement applies to the child. If I am not mistaken, your son will be reigstered under section 3(1) (or was it 1(3)). It is on discretion i.e. not automatic but the l...

By the looks of it, your sister has an ILE (indefinite leave to enter). This is similar to ILR but is issued outside of UK. Basically if it is an ILE, then there is no expiry date on the visa. Usually the expiry date on visa is the passport validity date. You need to enter on this visa before the ex...

My understanding about a successful application is that the spouse should be on a dependent visa. So if wife has hsmp (covered by JR) and husband is not her dependent, I don't think he can be included in ILR application. I will let senior members comment further. Moreover can your husband not conver...
