Just a heads up... I don't know that anyone will be recruiting in the spring. The top firms have made redundancies in permanent staff and have issues pay cuts and freezes to all staff, including trainees, until summer 2010. Some are still giving exam bonuses if you pass all exam on you first take. A...

Current Stamp 1A holder

Hi! It's time consuming and tiring, but if you have the drive, it'll be worth it. I'm from the US and have a degree in Literature. I am now working at a Big 4 firm and starting from CAP 1. It hasn't been easy, but then again, anything worth having isn't usually easily achieved. I came over on a 4 mo...

For DV-Lottery purposes, it's based on birthplace (or spouse's birthplace). So you normally register as Irish. E-3 is a temporary visa, so you can apply based on your (Australian) passport. If you subsequently go for a green card, again they look at birthplace. It doesn't really go by birthplace. I...

The bottom line is that you meet the qualifications to apply for the lottery, meaning you're a citizen of a country that qualifies. As long as you have that, you can apply from wherever on earth you wish. You can even change to the green card from whatever visa you are on.

Under the current immigration law it isn't possible. I don't think it will be under the new one they are drafting either.

You will either have to join him as a student or on a work permit or green card.

Like JAJ said, you going for British Citizenship may be faster.

I would just go ahead and apply for the student visa. You might want to talk to a lawyer, but I would think that you wouldn't be held accountable for something that happened at age 9.

Again, either just apply or seek legal advice.

This has been asked many times in the US Immigration section. If you are not intendind to return to the UK after marriage, you may enter the US on VWP. I also no this from experience because my Brother-in-law is British and came to the US on VWP when he married my sister. No problems there. You just...

I'm not sure who told you that, but it's incorrect. Setting up a business takes time and planning. Then you have to get it approved, so unless you have the money to invest and a great business plan . . . good luck. You can study full-time here. However, there really aren't any courses that start in ...

If you plan to settle in the US directly after your marriage, then you must apply for the fiance visa before going to the US. In regards to settling in the UK after marriage. However, this visa works like any other in the sense that there will be dates on it that are in regards to a window of time you may enter the country. This does not refer to you length of stay. You 90 days will them ...

There have been issues in the past with the GNIB denying a student visa/stamp renewal to students who took up interships that were an integral part of their degree. However, the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS) has worked this out with the GNIB. According to the ICOS website , article...

Well, there isn't really anything set in stone about this, but typically, when studying in Ireland, you usually aren't allowed to bring dependents. Of course, like I said before, this isn't set in stone. Your best bet is to email or ring the GNIB and try and get your question answered. However, if y...

Once that happens the process is easy enough, you just take evidence of of your funds and proof of registration to the GNIB and you will get a 1 year stamp. You will not get a student stamp earlier than 30 days prior to your start date. Where are you at in your education? What do you wish to study? Where to you want to study? You might find some programs at the smaller schools with an intake in the January/February. It can also be very expensive.

Yes, it is possible. The H-1B is one of the non-immigrant visas that allows you to switch status while in the US. So, once you are with a company, if they wish to sponsor you for a Green Card, they would do so while you are on the H-1B. It could take 2 years + for the Green Card to be awarded for mo...

If you were going to for the immigrant visa, and E1 (Employment First Preference) , you would have to have 3 years in teaching or research. This work permit is processed the fastest. E1 is not a visa, it's an employment based green card (there is a visa called E1, but it's something different). The...
