Re: Right of Abode for adult child of parents with RoA

I did say right away that I had posed this query already and that I'm asking the question again because the original topic was locked.

So I so apologise for my repetition.

But wow. That was rude and curt.

Right of Abode for adult child of parents with RoA

Disclosure : I has started a topic several months ago, but wasn't in a position to reply to any messages so it was locked. Hence why I'm doing it again. A quick recap of the background is: My husband was born in the UK in the 1950s. As such, he is entitled by right to claim British citizenship, but ...

Right of Abode for adult child of someone worth RoA

My husband was born in the UK in the 1950s. As such, he is entitled by right to claim British citizenship, but he hasn't ever done so, and likely never will. Just last year, he claimed Right of Abode and this was granted. On that basis, I claimed it as well, and it was granted to me too by virtue of ...

Re: Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode for a spouse

Quick update should this help anyone with a similar query. I ended up applying for the RoA on the basis of being the spouse of a man born in the UK. I had my appointment on 23 October and the application was processed and I have been issued a Certificate on 30 October. For clarity's sake, my initial ...

Re: Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode for a spouse

Oh we really have no intention to move! If that were the case my husband could have claimed citizenship a long time ago and we wouldn't be fussing over the RoA business. The RoA does make it easier to come and go as we please and eliminates the need to keep applying for visas every few years along ...

Has anyone recently applied for COE-ROA from India? If yes how long did it take to receive it?
Yes. My husband did. Took 6 days from appointment date to the email saying a decision was made and a further 3 days to get the passport back.

Re: Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode for a spouse

By birth in the UK before 1983, your husband is a British citizen otherwise than by descent automatically and can also apply for a British passport with the same documentation as that for the CoE-RoA. He was a CUKC with Right of Abode since birth, even if he had not claimed it in the past. If you ...

Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode for a spouse

Hi all - wondering if anyone had any insight for me so I can decide whether or not to apply for myself. My husband was born in the UK in 1956 and moved away when still a child. He has never claimed British citizenship nor has he lived there since the 60s. But last year he applied for and very ...
