Quick update should this help anyone with a similar query. I ended up applying for the RoA on the basis of being the spouse of a man born in the UK. I had my appointment on 23 October and the application was processed and I have been issued a Certificate on 30 October. For clarity's sake, my initial...

Oh we really have no intention to move! If that were the case my husband could have claimed citizenship a long time ago and we wouldn't be fussing over the RoA business. The RoA does make it easier to come and go as we please and eliminates the need to keep applying for visas every few years along w...

Yes. My husband did. Took 6 days from appointment date to the email saying a decision was made and a further 3 days to get the passport back.

By birth in the UK before 1983, your husband is a British citizen otherwise than by descent automatically and can also apply for a British passport with the same documentation as that for the CoE-RoA.
