Hi! That's useful to know! I did get a reply from Signpost, which stated what I basically knew. Most particularly - they maintain that the registration card should be recognized by the UK as waiving the visa requirement - which the UK ignores. [quote]Article 5(2) of the EU Directive on residence rig...

Richard, Many thanks for the very useful info! I'll keep it in mind and also see what Solvit/Signpost say. Note that I have contacted the German Solvit people. Will be interesting to see if they refer my to the UK one, or attempt to answer it themselves. You also highlight a good point with the airl...

Maybe I am just blind or ignorant or both but people in this forum keep telling that they would complain to someone, doing this or that, etc.. Page 1 of this thread mentions things like Solvit and Citizen Sign post. But what other options do we have? Maybe we need a compilation of contacte addresse...

Hi Richard & 86ti, I have now contacted both Solvit and Citizen Sign Post and am awaiting a reply. Other than that, I also don't know about any other resources. Short of becoming a German citizen and bothering my MEP ;-) The research* I have done has however clarified HOW I want to complain, and thi...

I thought the tone matched the xenophobia of the UK authorities quite nicely actually.

But it's unlikely to have any effect anyway.

It was interesting though to read the huge number of rejected applications for Snoop Dogg's visa.

Hi Mr Rusty! I appreciate your comments, but there is no way we are going to travel 600 km (our nearest application center is Berlin) with the time and money expense involved just to get a permit to visit Britain for 3 days. Every six months. And I am certainly not going to take them to court. If my...

Hi Folks! I, too, am very interested in this topic! As I have recently posted elsewhere, as far as I can see, the so-called Family Permit is nothing other than a 6-month entry visa in sheep's clothing. It is however, nothing like the visa description quoted in vinny's link on the Schengen situation:...

Hi Vinny,

Thanks for the heads up!

I, to, will be pursuing this with the authorities.

There's no way we're going to a VAC to get a visa .. um, I mean family permit.

Here's hoping the UK is forced to toe the line!

Cheers,

Ed

British + Russian wife visiting UK - visa required?

Hi Folks, Does anyone know if the Directive 2004/38/EC can be used to avoid having to get a visa to travel to visit the UK with a non-EEA spouse? I am a British citizen, have been in Germany 8 years and my wife 3 years. She is Russian with a work permit/residency permit in Germany (curerntly still h...

Russian wife - I'm a UK citizen. No visa req. for visit?

*OK, I know I should not post UK visa stuff in the Europe forum, but I think this is relevant here, isn't it?* Hi Folks, What a great thread! My question would be: I am a British citizen, living in Germany (> 8 years). My wife is Russian and has lived here in Germany for over 3 years. We have not y...
