Its too early to think about this mate. Its entirely dependent on the caseworker who will deal with your case when you apply for ILR. Yeah, I kinda do know that. The immigration rules have been changing so fast these recent years, no one knows what things will be like another 5 years. However ...

Maximum absence from the UK for 10 year residency

I've been in the UK for the previous 5 years as a university student. I will start work this year on the permit free postgrad training visa, which I believe is NOT considered a work permit. Hence, the only way I could get ILR would be to wait another 5 years to make up the 10 year residency. However ...

I really need some advice on this issue. For personal reasons, I would like to legally change my name. If successfull, I will need to apply for a new passport in my country of birth. I have been in the UK for the last 5 years on a student visa, and will start a permit free postgrad training job ...
