It's a good thread with an intelligent question and somehow gone out of track... I got my visa stamped in Dec 2008 and arrived here this Jan, thoroughly aware of the fact that life is going to suck with the market conditions here. My aspirations were different and I wish to place few ideas to chew u...

How to do Phd?

Guys, I am already in UK and have masters. U never know about changing rules and hence I want to put myself on the safer side. Can someone tell me how to do Phd and is there any other qualification above Phd? I still have 4 years to apply for ILR and assuming that HO changes rules every year... it i...

I suggest, why not a clear cut letter to HO explaining ur circumstances thro recorded delivery. Generally, letter would/should get u some response.

I assumed that my caseworker might have low patience levels as I am to go through one long story and gave individual covering letters under each section which appeared short'n'brief and explained every section from the scratch with no assumptions. Evaluation of my application is like marking an exam...

To sri_sunny : I have 7+ years of industry experience in a niche Software area so I don't think getting a job will be difficult for me. However, it is not just 'ANY' job in XYZ comany that I am after. I have pretty high targets and ambition and therein lies the problem. I have focussed and spent so...

The situation is definately serious particularly for students and first time goers where hard jobs are initial source of income. Recession is a bell graph and by the market dynamics, it would reach its peak in the next 3 months and start to ease out thereafter, in my opinion. As other seniors sugges...

Pl send a well coined letter to BHC quoting ur actual request of entry date in the application. U r definately not expected to maintain funds now since u will have to buy pounds to 'maintain' urself in UK. 3 months are 3 months to maintain funds and not for eternity. If BHC expect applicants to main...

I would second push_hsmp. This forum has all the info that sometimes, I suspect few of the policy decisions are based out of this forum. Having lived in UK, I can suggest that this forum has members from all over the world and a simple action of 'helping' is not perceived as help since it's not a co...

Absolutely incorrect. Time limit for statements are only for MF and for earnings it could be dated anytime in the past. As a contractor, I never earned after june and for my approved application, for previous earnings, I submitted statements between jan to jun dated august....

this is misleading.....

I am sure you asked what to show the customs and u did not ask what to show immigration. They both are different from each other.... Carry all ur docs which u submitted with visa application. That would suffice.

Immigration will check if u have breached any immigration rules in the past, whether the entrant has any terror links or whether there is any significant change in your circumstances for eg: a conviction between date of application and date of arrival. All these checks happen at the b...

If you r all speaking about 'highly skilled' visa, then pl do go through the home office website and there is no such formality to prove ur networth at the port. It is funny to imagine immigration officer letting you go to a 'private place' to take out the money from the 'hidden area'. Remind you, i...

The money should've been constantly accrued and not an one-time huge payment. Remember, it should be legitimate earning and not inherited, borrowed or an overdraft. Or write a mail to HR and insist on reply, print it out, attach with ur visa application and explain clearly on the covering letter. Anyways that is not the only doc ECO would be looking at. I am surprised how taxman is still not at your doorstep if at all you have transacted such a huge money.
