Expired passport

Hi, I am currently eligible to apply for citizenship. However, I have just noticed that my passport expired last month and the only valid document I possess is the biometric permit. Would anyone please advise if I should renew my passport first or appky for BC regardless of the expiry date . Thanks

This is really inconvenient. I was told that I can not appeal as well for my wife (please refer to this thread). I went onto formally lodge a complaint and initiated judicial review. That did the trick for me. It is a pain but well worth it. If no one else has a better solution then you might want t...

Just a quick one, I have written to UKBA for over a week about the confirmation of the valid from day and the earliest my wife could apply for citizenship, and am awaiting response. As soon as I hear back from them, I shall update the forum.

Hi Sushmehta,

Thank you again.

Do you think an email confirmation would be equally valid?

If that is the case, would you kindly know any email address where we could forward that query?

Regards,
Ali

Hiya, Thank you guys and I am so relieved. Once again, I could not have done it without your help. My prayers go out to you. Sushmehta: It does have an issue date which says 21st of November (my interpretation is that issue date is for the card itself). But the valid until date is June 2022. There i...

Update on my wife's ILR

Further to my previous post, the very next day my wife received the Biometric Card with ILR on it. The card itself expires in 10 years but I think perhaps the settlement doesn't, I would imagine that my wife would have to renew her Biometric card after ten years. More interestingly, the card expires...

Thank you for posting this letter. If only I had inquired for a similar letter like yours and attached it with my wife's application, I think the situation would have been much different. It is about educating certain case handlers. So we pay for a service, and we then make sure that we also educate...

Hello Badguy,

Ditto Vinny's message above. It would be nice if you share the contents of the letter removing the personal details for the benefit of the rest.

Hi, I believe the most cost effective method would be to perhaps wait for the outcome of our application and see how it goes. There is ample evidence that judicial review and reconsideration has worked in the past, so if you can not afford to wait then perhaps apply now. http://www.whatdotheyknow.co...

An update

I received the following reply from the same case handler. I am not sure what to make of it. Is it a time delaying tactic? Someone else in the same situation received phone call who confirmed that the case handler has made a mistake. Am I dealing with an egoistic.............? Following is the full ...

Oh that is a wonderful news. I congratulate you. It gives me a lot of hope. I did get in touch with lawyers who say that they have 10 years of experience etc, who advised me that I have little chance. I am ever so indebted to the people on this forum. I am just waiting for altfhn and then I shall em...

I applied with the references who had not known my daughter for 2 years and explained this with a covering letter.

She now has a passport.

I am grateful for the responses and help.

Just a quick one,

I consequently applied for ILR and then only last month I was granted a citizenship. My daughter has a UK passport, applied under 3n1.

Hope it helps.

Sample Letter for Reconsideration and Letter before Claim

Hello All, I have written the following sample letter which I would use to send to UKBA to reconsider our case and also plan to post it to judicial review so that they know that they have their copy. This is where I would require your esteemed opinion. 1) Do you think this letter would work as both ...

Your wife cannot appeal! That doesn't stop her from complaining and demanding reconsideration!! Do so by writing a letter to UKBA, if you are unable to figure it out how you may do so from what is written in the refusal letter. Alternatively, consult a competent solicitor. Dear Sushdmehta, Thank yo...
