Re: Looking for clarification - re-entry after Tier 5

I would think you'll be OK as long as you carry some form of proof of your intentions to collect belongings and leave within a few days. Carry proof of intended departure from UK and maybe a friend or relative can be on the end of the phone to confirm things if you get stopped.

You could start the process by applying online here, but you will have to be physically present in HK to attend a biometrics appointment.

Re: Visa for Freelance Photographer/ Photojournalist

Taking photos of an event for an overseas news agency would not warrant a Tier 5 creative and sporting visa, and to be quite honest I doubt you need that. The visitor rules allow for journalists and cameramen to cover UK events for overseas publications, as long as they're short term. I suggest you ...

Re: Visa for Freelance Photographer/ Photojournalist

You can apply in your country of residence (USA), assuming your O1 is still valid.

I would think a business visit visa would cover it if you're covering the event for an overseas news agency.

Re: Urgent!! Wrong passport expiry date on CoS

The sponsor can (and should) make a sponsor note. It does not cancel or impact on the CoS; it's purely a note to correct one detail. The VFS people are clowns. The amount they know about CoS could be stated amply on the back of a postage stamp.

Re: Seasonal Work for a U.S. Citizen??

I don't believe seasonal work is available, apart from to Commonwealth citizens under 30, or under the bizarre new agricultural seasonal workers program (a licence for gangs to run modern slavery scams if ever there was one - it only applies to farm work). You would instead need a work permit (Certi...

Re: UK to end freedom of movement for EU citizens on day one of Brexit

Your original post is fine; don't want to contradict that at all. But if EU nationals were really to be subject to work visas, CoS, etc. as of November 1, I find it hard to believe there are systems in place to deal with that. For example; adding EU nationals into the countries who need work permiss...

It's done it again! I used a four letter word which means counterfeit or not real; and rhymes with bake or rake. Jeez; apparently that word is unusable on here.

Errrr, I typed the word "fake"; as in a false NI number (not one attached to a real person). The post changed my wording from "fake" to "bad quality".

Re: UK visa form - glitch with the NI number question

They say they're addressing the problem hopefully by mid next week (August 21 or so). In the meantime they've provided a fake NI number for our applicants, to get around the problem.

UK visa form - glitch with the NI number question

Hi folks Today we had reports of a glitch with the online UK visa forms for temporary workers (it might affect others too). 4 Chinese nationals all reported to us that the forms would not let them past the NI number question. We checked and got the same problem. If you say you don't have an NI numbe...

Re: visa application and job start date different from date in CoS

Your start date can be later. It's not a reason for refusal. Your sponsor could do a "sponsor note" on the CoS to say your likely start date has been pushed back to, say, August 15th or something like that. This note should show up to the officer who considers the visa application.

I don't deal with YMS, but I can say you can't apply for it in-country once you've landed as a visitor. You need an entry visa first.

Generally you can't apply for a UK work visa in a country where you're simply a visitor. You'd need to apply from your home country, I'm afraid.

Re: E-Gates for Australian visa holders??

I think if you have the visa in your passport (entry clearance sticker) then you should be able to use the E-gates. The people who can't use the E-gates are those who are working and would get their work permission conveyed by a Border Force officer on arrival (you'll have yours conveyed by the visa...

Tier 5 entertainment visa woes - your experiences

Hi all I have noticed especially last summer and this year that the number of visa nationals applying for a tier 5 entertainment visas is broadening in scope. It used to be mainly South Asian pop and film acts, plus 'World Music' which usually got lumped in with folk and certain festivals. Now we ha...

You should not have to prove you have tickets for a sporting event to get a visa.

With regard to financial documents, originals are best and certified copies are next-best.

Re: Visitor Visa for Cricket World cup 2019

When you make your visit visa applications just make sure you prove you are just coming here for a short time. Any proof you can give that you have a job and/or family to return to in India, and that you have enough money for your trip.

I tried to amend my earlier reply and the system stopped me from doing so. It's odd your visa was only issued for a few past the World Cup final. Anyway, igno...

Re: Apply for standard visitor visa while on Tier 5

Have you actually got the UK visa yet? I'm assuming you're a South African national and would therefore require a visa. Tier 5 CoS holders often get a visa for a month past their last work date on the CoS. So if your sponsor covered you to the end of July then your visa may run to the end of August ...

Re: can Tier 4 (study) switch to Tier 5 (creative & sporting)?

CR001 is correct; for some reason the switching route is very restrictive in tier 5. You'd need to return to your home country and apply for a UK work visa from there, once you have a valid CoS.

You must leave by the date on your BRP. If you come back a few days later you will have a hard time convincing UK Border Force you're just here for a holiday. It simply doesn't look right.

Does anyone have clarity on what happens post-Brexit?

Hi all I'm referring here to touring music and theatre workers (bands, DJs, theatre troupes, film workers etc.) who come temporarily to the UK each year. Non-EU nationals mostly use Tier 5 CoS to do this (well over 30,000 Tier 5 CoS are issued to touring acts each year; the majority from the USA), b...
