Does anybody know why it is taking so long all of a sudden? I have a friend that applied in January, and it only took two weeks to get the Citizenship approval. Now it is taking that long just to get an acknowledgement letter!

I submitted an application at the NCS recently, and at no time did I spot the Officer look at anything past page 1 of the application. In fact, they only used page 1 to copy one detail onto another form - my name I think. I had misconceptions about NCS - For some reason I thought they'd look at my a...

Just to jump in with my own experience with Check and Send for Naturalisation. I was in the North of England last week and tried to make an appointment to use a check and send service up there. However they refused to see me on the basis that I didn't have 5 years worth of P60's with me, or a letter...

Agreed, you haven't done anything wrong as yet - just explain your situation and they might hold your application for you.

After reading your story I'm going to lodge my application after I've finished traveling - I was going to travel exactly after 5 days but the risk doesn't seem worth it.

Absences in Form AN - spreadsheet acceptable?

I've started copying out my absences from my carefully prepared spreadsheet onto page 7 of form AN. I've got about 50 lines to write. I've handwritten 4 and have already made mistakes and it is taking ages. It isn't going to fit on page 7 & 13 combined. Do you think if I just gave a printout in a si...

Mother has changed first name, but not family name

On Form AN, the citizenship application, 1.27 asks for "Your mother's full name & maiden name." Now in fact her surname is currently the same as it was when she was born. However she has changed her first name. Maiden name refers to family name only right? So I should just put a dash and repeat the ...

I have a friend who has the title Director at Deutsche Bank.

I'm trying to figure out whether he would count as a referee who has a professional standing.

I'm surprised about this and glad I found out since I had been planning to go on a holiday immediately after applying. Maybe it is time to get a solicitor involved? Employment law is a complicated area, and it may be that you are really an employee due to the manner in which you worked - i.e. showed up at the same place of work for 7 years in good faith. At any rate, if anybody does get in big trouble, I'd imagine i...

Note that when I tried this myself, I received all kinds of documents but not any information on dates in or out of the country. I didn't fill in many landing cards either, since when you use the IRIS system you don't fill out a landing card.

date in, date out and reason

I spent hours preparing an elaborate spreadsheet which included passport page of stamp and so on (235 days in total). They were not interested in this and only looked at the dates for long absences - they spent barely a minute doing this in total.

I reckon apply for ILR in person and don't worry about it. To be honest, this is one of things I was vaguely worried about too. At one stage I was earning about 30% more than stated on my workpermit due to bonus, pay rises and overtime pay. The caseworker seemed to be more interested in the letter f...

You've given very little information about your situation. How many days do you have to play with? Did you enter / were present in the UK on the day your visa was valid from? If so you could apply in person up to 28 days early at a PEO. If you were rejected, you'd still have time to apply for an ext...
