Directive,

Thank you! I've been searching for something more official. I had read some things on the sites of other universities, i.e. UK and Sweden, but I hadn't found anything through the various EU sites.

Thanks for the help!

University Tuition for 3rd country spouse

Hi! I'm married to an Austrian citizen and we have been living/working in Austria for a couple of years now. I have a family member visa (Aufenthaltstitel) here. My wife and i have considered moving somewhere within the EU and I would go to university. I understood EU law to be that EU citizens and ...

Ok the thing is, after ILR is granted there's really not much they can do. They won't take her passport off her! So why don't you be a bigger person and just live your life? Yes, I agree to an extent that moving on might be the healthiest thing to do. We also only know the OP's side of things. Howe...

As far as British citizenship, I'm clueless. However, if she's married an American and has PR (green card) on that basis, she could face serious penalties. Technically, it's filing official paperwork under false pretenses. The minimum penalty would include her green card being revoked. Go to the Imm...

All immigration talk aside, whether it be legal or illegal, I feel for the OP. It's hard and he's stuck it out. He's clearly an intelligent person based on his postings but it's hell to live in no-man's land. @2347526: It's hard living as an immigrant, let alone that long. If you want to talk to som...

More importantly, were you banned from entry into the UK (for any length of time)? I would think that due to the current circumstances, i.e. your job status and home in Australia, and the fact that you're seeing a sick relative will allow you entry. However, if you've been banned, that's another sto...

Yes, I'm sure they have to go through some sort of immigration. I think a couple of celebrities have been denied admission to the country before...though I'm not sure of that. I remember hearing about a couple of celebrities that had outstanding warrants or improper/non-existent visas though. They m...

Move a topic

Mods-

Is there any way my thread "Visiting the UK Alone" in the European Immigration section moved here? It's more appropriate here. Thanks!

All I know is that on Sky One's UK Border Force it showed a tourist (American too IIRC) being stopped by the IO, bags searched and they found CV's, jobserve prints and interview appointments - the presumption being the guy will just not return if he got the job. I don't think any nationality should...

Great memory, by the way...yes, I have an Aufenthaltstitel...I will have to renew it in October and every year for the first 5 years. It allows me residency and " Freier zugang zum Arbeitsmarkt"...I'm free to work anywhere in the open market, I just can't claim unemployment benefits.

Wow, thanks Wanderer. I had simply assumed that it would be considered a tourist visit as long as I wasn't planning on leaving, so it's good to know now! I didn't mean to imply that I could live/work anywhere, but that I had the right to be where my wife is. Would I be ok to attend an interview if I...

Visiting the UK Alone

I have read up on the forum about traveling with and without your EU partner, but I still have a question. I'm an American citizen living in Austria. I am married to an Austrian citizen and have residency here (Aufenhaltstitel). I have a couple of job interviews in the UK and was wondering if I coul...

Is the "old" passport still current, or is it expired? If you are stopped by passport control anywhere, including the UK, you'll likely be in trouble. If you are able to enter the UK without anyone looking at your passport, you should be fine to leave. However, if anyone takes a look at it (a good c...

Thanks to everyone for your great advice and sites! I've been looking the sites over with my better half and we have a better game plan when we visit in a few weeks. I've looked at a few apartments in Clifton that looked very nice, but I wasn't very familiar with the area. I've read into it a bit, a...

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. I have written down all of the cities in order to do further research. We have to be moved by the end of July, but we would not mind moving in June. I suppose it sounds like we're a bit unprepared/unorganized, but we've been planning this move since la...

We were just talking about Bath...I think it will definitely warrant a stop. I don't mind living a bit outside the city. We're car shopping as well, so we'll have transportation. I like the idea of living within walking distance of necessary places...such things as a grocery store. Outside of that n...

In all honesty it seems to be a nice city. I have limited experience with it, but from what I remembered it seemed so...welcoming. It's not London, so it doesn't have quite the price tag as London and it's a bit warmer than the rest of the country. I know these things are vague and a bit silly, but ...

Any advice on a new city?

I hope I'm not too far off topic with this query, but it seemed like the most appropriate section. I've had a lot of helpful advice from these boards in establishing my residency permit, but now my wife and I are up for a move to the UK. I, so far, have a handle on everything that I need to do as fa...

I'll go ahead and agree with Directive and 86ti...go ahead and get an apostille (Morocco signed on with the international agreement to "eliminate" a bit of the bureaucracy in assuring legal documents are official) and a translation. Present these documents and get an official denial, if they actuall...
