On a similar boat. I completed the online application which provided a GBRLNXXX reference number and I posted the application to HCI London on 24th Sep 2013. When I try and use the online status enquiry page I get a record not found message. How long does it take for the information to be available ...

Is there such a thing as 'partial citizenship'? You are either a citizen or not. OCI does not confer citizenship on the holder. It is a visa/permit/travel-doc (whichever name you want to use) which confers some rights with respect to entry, stay, living and working in India. I have my fingers crosse...

I am not a Brit by birth but would strongly stand by the principle that one must respect the laws of the land. Failing to play by the rules/law and then expect the same to be fair, considerate, humane etc... is just plain hypocrisy. Humans being humans resort to desperate means at desperate times wh...

With the online version there will be some additional delay as one has to wait for the printed application form to be posted out and then one should go about getting references etc... But with the postal mode the application can be filled-out and perhaps even the references obtained prior to the Cit...

Hi, My daughter was born on the 1st of June, 2012. My wife and I were granted ILR on the 1st of Feb, 2013. Is my daughter eligible for naturalization? I have read conflicting opinions online. If she is then which form should I use for application? Thank you. If your daughter was born in the UK then...

How long does it take for the decision letter to arrive? I called HO and was told the decision was made on the 02 Sep 2010. However I am yet to receive any letter from Home office.

Does it come through royal mail?

Ali,
I have not been in a situation similar to yours so cannot comment on it. But I remember reading other posts where the documents were sent prior to decission being made. So I would not worry too much about it.

Ali, Yes HO is right and they can refuse to provide an update on the an application that is less than 6 months old. However I guess it depends on the person that you talk to when you call them as some of the call handlers seem to be kind enough to provide this information while some others might not...

Passport new format...

Congratulations to all who have recieved their British passports. Those who recieved it recently can you let us know if it is in the new format announced recently or will the new format be effective only in Oct/2010 as advertised? If so, is there any point in waiting until Oct to apply for passport?...

Hmmm, I have checked UKBA website again and it does say that there is no need to get an ILR if married to British Citizen. It all appears a bit too good to be true. I do not want to loose the application fee by wrongly applying for citizenship. Any one else with experience on this issue?
