Brazilian-British move to Germany and applying for citizenship

Dear all, I have both a Brazilian and British passport and am looking to move to Germany with my German wife before 31/01/2020. I have lived there before (2002vto 2004) and held residency based on being a dependant of my wife and on my Brazilian passport. I have since lived in the UK and acquired na...

I was told that was not possible to keep my passport as Germany does not accept dual or multiple citzenship but there are always exceptions. My daughter is a good exemple in her case she got multiple nationalities from birth. I am a bit lost now. However, the link above is from a very reliable place...

Brazilian-British applying for a German citizenship?

I am Brazilian by birth and have recently became a British Citizen as a result of been married to a EU Citizen ”German” and living in UK for many years. We, me and my wife and my daughter are planning to move to Germany. I know that under German law we would need to live in Germany together for 3 ye...

Thanks so much, Jambo, really helpful! Do you know is there is a restriction as to how many passports one can hold apart from English one? She has a German one, the Brazilian has already expired - was only valid for a year.

Dear Jambo and Boloney, many thanks for your replies. Very helpful! Just to confirm: - I will send all this (5 x P60s, passport application form, my German passport and blue PR card) to the IPS directly , together with a cover letter explaining the situation around having exercised PR already prior ...

Child born a few months before PR was issued - BC?

Hello, our daughter was born on at the end of January 2010 here in the UK. At the time we were in the process of applying for PR for my husband (Brazilian) based on being in the country for just over 5 years (as of 15 December 2009) as my EEA dependant (I am German). The PR was finally granted at th...

Passport application - need to send foreign passport?

My husband has had his naturalisation ceremony (thanks to everyone here who helped us get there!!) and would now like to apply for the British Passport asap. Is it necessary to send his foreign passport together with the naturalisation certificate? A friend of ours (same nationality as my husband) i...

Great, thanks both!! I was pretty confident that they were wrong but now I am sure... I guess we were just unlucky to get this inexperienced woman... but it certainly ruined our Saturday! I will ring them on Monday and tell them what to do. Interesting what you say about the Non-Stamping of the pass...

Thanks for your response. I take this to mean that we should not have to provide anything else apart from both passports (current one with PR (dated 5/08/2010), Passport is valid from 2008 onwards) and the one before (valid 2003-2008) as well as life in uk test and that's it, correct? Please confirm...

Problems with NCS

I thought this should actually have it's own heading... We have been to the NCS this morning and were unfortunate enough to get someone attending us who seems to have had their first day. The lady was nice but very confused and clearly didn't know what she was doing... Just to summarise: my husband ...

Thank you all for you responses. Jambo , this is exactly what I was thinking but as the UKBA forms are sometimes deliberately misleading I thought I double check. My husband has got the PR sticker for more than a year now (and a supporting letter) so I think it would be useless to have to prove this...

Thanks, John. So do you think we should then fill this in with my details, given that my husband was here at most of the time as my dependant (even though he worked) - just as we did for the PR?

Documents to send for naturalisation and PR

Hi there, we are finally ready to apply for my husband's naturalisation. He has been granted PR in August 2010 (based on myself, an EEA national), has passed his test and we now would like to use the NCS to get our application to the UKBA. However, now I am not a 100% sure if we need to fill in sect...

PR, periods of unemployment, medical insurance?

Dear All, my husband (Brazilian) got his PR in August last year after an awful long wait. One month later and a few letters to the UKBA and our local MP we even managed to get our missing documents (P45/60s, marriage certificate etc) back... He now wants to apply for BC just after he has held his PR...

Hello, after an absolute nightmarish process of getting our PR we are now wondering when exactly my hysband can apply for naturalization? (I am German, my husband is Brazilian and it took us 8 months and inumerous complaint letters, calls, faxes and finally a letter from the MP to get our passports ...

EEA 3 and 4 - supporting documents not returned!!

Today we finally received our passports (EEA3 and 4) back from the UKBA after three complaint ketters to the NW CS unit and two phone calls to advice line (after 7 months!!). However, all the supporting documents for my husband (non-EEA), payslips, bank statements P60 and 45s as well as joint mortga...

I have decided to complain before asking for passports back as worried this would delay process. Just two questions: 1) I read in another thread that someone quoted Article 10 of Directive 2004/58/EC but that seems to be something different than the link 86i sent me, or am I missing something here? ...

Oh, thanks so much, 86ti, for the quick response. I assume the below paragraphs are the ones I would have to quote in our case (EEA3/4). I will email them immediately!! Just one more general question: what exactly will we get at the end of this application (Permanent residence)? We thought it would ...
