English language question

I'm sorry if this is obvious but I've read so much I'm getting myself confused. Can someone just clarify if the following qualification is unacceptable... Trinity College London entry level certificate in ESOL skills for life (speaking & listening) (entry1) may 2013 pass As you can see that qualific...

Re: Uk residence permit not in passport

Just an update for anyone who may find themselves asking this question in the future. We submitted the application at the Spanish consulate today and nothing was said by the officer about the permit not being in the passport. He was happy with the documents provided and said to expect the visa in th...

Uk residence permit not in passport

My husband is applying for a schengan visa to visit Spain (with me -British spouse) It seems straightforward except for that part that says "uk residence permit in passport". He has ILR from 2010 on a piece of paper not in passport. This has never been an issue travelling abroad before but we've nev...

Thanks amber. We've not fully decided to send it yet, but I'm now thinking it doesn't matter when he applies for citizenship (in regards to his conviction), he's still going to have this anomaly on his record, so he's basically got the prospect of a 10 year ban/revoking of ilr hanging over him etern...

NCS question

Is it possible to use NCS for a citizenship application even if they will advise us not to send it. What I mean is, do they just advise you it's unlikely to be successful or do they actually refuse to process your application? I'm quite comfortable doing postal but I want to use NCS so we can keep h...

I've found out some more info.

This college is offering an entry level certificate in ESOL skills for life (speaking and listening) (entry 1).

Is just that course sufficient or will he need to do a further level?

Knowledge of English

Had a quick look through this forum and can't see a similar question Can someone clarify for me what counts as sufficient knowledge of English/ life in uk. My husband has been told by a college they do an ESOL course that satisfies the requirements for British citizenship. I'm a bit skeptical as the...

There is a sticky on the general uk immigration forum about the new rules which might have a bit more info. It isn't all good news from what I've been reading. Sorry I cant answer your query better, but can I just ask you, was that the only reason they refused your application? Were there no other i...

Ok so declare all convictions and driving offences - Sorted BUT what about police cautions??? I know these are never spent on your record so do they have to be declared even though they are not strictly convictions? ALSO dare I ask.....has anyone applied with a custodial sentence on record  :...

Good character requirement

Not really expecting anyone to be in this situation but just in case..... Does anyone have any experience of applying for BC when they are not of "good character" In other words criminal convictions :( Ooh another can of worms open, my life is never straightforward Please let me know did you declare...

No it won't cause any problems to come back to the UK. HO tells you when you get the ISD exactly the same thing that sushdmehta said. You can either get NTL endorsement or use the passport and paper separately as long as the country you travel to allows it (sorry to repeat). HO wouldn't offer the op...

The Indefinite leave to remain for 'special circumstances' doesn't sound dodgy. Lots of legacy cases are being granted indefinite leave for reasons outside immigration rules.

But I wouldn't lend anyone £500 for any reason. Maybe I'm just mean...

UKgoodboy I understand how frustrated you are with the system (see my earlier posts - I went through the same thing). The only positive advice I can give you is that nobody seems to have been refused, maybe you'll have to wait 8 months like some of us, but we all got it in the end. I'm sure if you h...

Sorry to post this information again in another thread but I just want to let you know I got the COA today!!!!!!!!!! It took exactly 8 months from when the application was made. However, I wouldn't use that as a guide for time, their system is a bit random x

I've been waiting since July 09 as well. I got a reply from HO via my MP at the end of Feb. It said my partners situaton is complex so it will take longer to decide. I'm not holding out much hope for this COA. :(

What does JR stand for?? I need any help I can get! No one has answered me about how these fake couples are getting the COA so fast. Is it possible that I can try to get married without it? I still don't get it at all. How are these fake couples able to get married so easily, surely they have to apply for a COA - how come they're not waiting 8 months for it and writing letters of complaint and letters to MPs like me!! Also how can I get an appointment at that office in the video where ...

I'm not very happy about that bbc article, the HO have obviously looked at all the cases up to nov 2009 if they have made a judgement on how many of them are suspected shams. I sent mine in July 2009, I hope that doesn't that mean I'm in the alleged sham group!!! I am so worried about my wedding thi...

I know other people that had it in four weeks as well but I'm guessing it just depends where the applicant is from. I think I'm the second class application queue. I just hope it doesn't get refused!!!!!!! I don't know what to do then......

I'm sure they will ignore it!

I got my COA acknowledgement on 23 july this year too and my affidavit request on 27 august. I have heard nothing at all!!! They still have my UK passport and my fiance's ARC card.
