Hi, I got my Tier-1 Visa on 1st March, 2010. I came to the UK 30th March 2010. Got my Tier-1 Visa extended and the new visa got extended till 1 March, 2015. I think its purely on the case officer. I had my PEO appointment on the 14th Feb with my visa expiring 1st March, 2013. I received my BRP card and the exiry date is 1/march/2015 rather than appointment date.

I used the Account Manager printouts and got the bank to stamp it. No problems at all.. Same for your maintenance fund. Use your bank statements and whereever there is a shortfall as your bank statement wont come in time use the account manager and get the bank to sign it...

Yes you can apply for the TIER 1 as soon you are eligible and once that is approved your TIER 1 will over ride the TIER 5. I am also from New zealand and had a friend in the similar situation who also applied for TIER 1 and his TIER 5 was overriden by TIER 1.
