Re: ILR '2-year absence' clarification

Thanks for the information.
The problem with citizenship is that my wife's country doesn't allow dual nationality - so to get British citizenship, she'd have to give up her own nationality (which would also negate my residence and work in her country, where we are now).
A tricky one...

ILR '2-year absence' clarification

Hi there, My wife has held ILR since 2010. We've left the country as I've been given a job abroad. Just wanted to clarify... If my wife wants to keep her ILR status, is it as simple as making sure we visit the UK at least once ever two years? Or does it not permit such visits if you've moved abroad?...

Good luck getting the COA fee refunded... They will not refund anyone who had a visa that required them to be self-sufficient/self-supporting. Despite more than meeting the financial hardship criteria, our refund was denied, as my wife was on a student visa when she applied for the COA, thus is auto...

Refund was rejected due to my wife being on a student visa at the time - therefore she was, by default, self-sufficient and could afford the fee. So, who will get a refund? Workers and students must be self-sufficient, so they wont qualify. Who will?! We more than met the financial hardship criteria...

My wife and I applied for a refund... and after 2.5 months of hearing nothing (and being told nothing over the phone and having my emails and faxes ignored), I contacted the Home Secretary, Shadow Home Secretary and my MP. Home Secretary forwarded my letter to the UKBA, and also had an email from my...
