Visitor Visa for in Law

My mother in law had a 2 year visitor visa, which ran out recently. She made two visits with that visa: Visit 1: March 1 - June 21, 2016 Visit 2: June 12 - Oct 24, 2017 The last visit was due the birth of our second child and it took a bit longer. Last week our GP referred my wife to a specialist, a...

Re: Good character requirement

Where do you live, in Australia or in the UK? If in Australia then the HMRC tax reference number is irrelevant but if you do live in the UK then I presume you ought to be paying income tax here in the UK, no?

Re: Refused British citizenship good character

If you "gamble" by withholding information in your application and if you get caught (I am certain that you will) then you'll be banned until 2026. The ban would be due to concealing relevant information, not the overstay. If you do not conceal anything in your application, i.e. you tell them about ...

Re: Refused British citizenship good character

Hi Yes, they do conduct checks and the immigration history is perhaps the first thing they look at. The 51 day gap is almost certain to cause an issue and, based on the dates in your post, I would strongly suggest to delay your application until Jan 31, 2017 at which point ten years would have passe...

Re: 1st Passport Interview for Naturalised Person

reassuring to hear this about HMPO. sounds like they have a different attitude compared to HO. I have only seen that happen twice by members posting on the forum and neither of them recently. HMPO are not inhumane. They will ask questions that only she should know. They are patient and friendly.

Following up on this issue: do they allow for interpreters during the interview? We probably need one for my wife's interview. I can volunteer to be there during the interview and do the translation if needed, but i don't know if they will accept this.

Re: Naturalisation refused (Toeic)

If the HO is convinced that the document is fraudulent, then you have to wait 10 years before reapplying. The reconsideration form is a mere check if the initial case worker has done things properly; it's not an appeal form. I am surprised, I must say, that you have been in the country as a student ...

It's been already answered but just wanted to contribute as my wife has the same exact qualifications. The relevant box in the application form is the one that says the test is recognized by Ofqual, which is indeed the case. Please note that these certificates are different than the SELT exams offer...

Request to Make the Timeline Spreadsheet Sticky

Would it be possible to make this thread sticky so that it becomes visible to more people. The more people see and enter their information the more accurate the results (and est...

Re: 10 Parking fines

parking tickets, unlike speeding or seat belt tickets, are issued to the registration number of the vehicle; not to a person's name. the responsibility (to pay) falls on the shoulders of the owner of the vehicle. if not paid, they'd go after the owner; as far as parking tickets are concerned they do...

Re: NCS experience - submitting citizenship application

Sounds you've been treated pretty rudely at the NCS. They are supposed to help you with your application; not dictate you what to put in, when to speak etc. You don't need them after all. We, too, applied as a family but it was a much more civilized affair than this. I have submitted my family appli...

Re: Naturalisation in December 2015 – IELTS

During our naturalization application (me and my wife) a few days ago we've done the same thing. Ticked the box saying we've satisfied the language requirements during the ILR application, but included the photocopies of the certificates/diplomas just in case. I've read a few posts in this forum say...

It's a bit irrelevant, but will ask anyway: What's the point of writing the name at the back of the photo if it's going to be glued to the form anyway. They won't peel it off, will they?

NCS appointment: Alone or with Family Members?

Hi
This coming Monday afternoon we have an NCS appointment. The applications are for me, my wife and son. I was wondering, though, if I could submit the applications myself. Do my wife and son have to be present at the time of application?

Seat Belt Ticket - Where in the Form AN to declare it?

Where exactly do we declare a Fixed Penalty Notice (such as speeding or seatbelt tickets) in the Form AN. Is it Question 3.1 (Have you been convicted of any criminal offence in the UK or any other country?) or Question 3.5 (Have you received any cautions (simple or conditional), warnings or repriman...

Re: Sent AN application without evidence of English language

With all the likelihood they'll send a follow up request asking for evidence of English language, but there is a time windonw (1.5 months if I am not wrong), which is quite short. In my view your best bet is to take IELTS immediately. You need, I think, a score of 4.5. By the time HO gets back, you ...

Re: UK citizen with grown US citizen children

Sounds like you're British otherwise by descent, so your children are entitled to be British by descent, which means that they don't need a visa or a naturalization application. They can directly apply for a British passport. Their children, however, would not be British unless they are born in the ...
