13kg is equivalent to approximately 2500 sheets of A4 paper.

Unless you submitted some large rocks are part of your application, I really wouldn't worry.

Chris, Count yourself lucky that your wife was allowed in on a tourist visa. If the immigration officer had twigged that she was married to a British citizen and didn't have the correct visa, she'd have likely been refused entry. Exactly the same thing happened to my wife in 2007. We married in Cana...

Me again, Regarding bank statements etc, we have opted for paperless bills so only can print our statements off the internet. Will these be classed as originals, or is it only passports etc that they want to see originals. Any info would be great, thanks Scottie, They won't accept internet print of...

Re: How late can I apply for ILR

We are planning to go to Brazil for Xmas and New Year. We were hoping to apply 7th Oct and pray that it arrives be...

Many thanks to you all for the further useful information. As JulesN19 correctly summised, I was unaware that tri-nationalities (or more) were permitted. We'll be keeping both her US and Canadian passports, in addition to her gaining British citizenship. Interesting point regarding requirement of mu...

Hmm.. no he hasn't, I didn't realize he had to. So we wouldn't have been able to apply for settlement anyway.. Well, we are going to try and raise the money for the extension through family and possible a loan, which isn't ideal because that means he still can't claim for his children and if grante...

Re: Foreseeable or Unforeseeable in employer letter

Hello All, I am going to home office next month for my ILR. On my employer letter, as per format got from this forum; my company gave me letter and said "We want Mr. X for foreseeable future" where my consultant says change it to "We want Mr. X for unforeseeable future". Sorry I was not clear. I will be applying by post from UK.... whenever I get back! But if your current visa has expired by then, how will you get back in the country? In answer to your question, SET(M) times vary but currently they seem to be on top of applications and a straightforward app should ...

How can my wife 'drop' her third citizenship?

Hi everyone, Would like to thank the mods who run this board - although I'm not a regular poster I've had so much useful info from you all and had put my mind at rest frequently through my wife's immigration process. Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question: My wife was granted ILR thro...

malathi, Definately read the book. The exam is a joke because it is very easy, however, if you don't read the book you won't pass. In any case it's very very easy to pass and I will be surprised if you don't finish the exam in 10 minutes. Thanks. Will read before going. Malathi Malathi, You need to...

Congrats on your ILR! They sent your pass sheet back because you'll need it if you want to apply for naturalization. Hang on to it!

Re: GOT my ILR!!

I waited exactly 4 weeks from the day I sent my passport to the day I received it back. So I just wanted to say thanx for putting me at ease about the wait (that I didn't have to do so much anyways) and good luck to everyone still waiting. All the best! :D Congrats! Well congrats on getting your IRL. Did you get it back via the special delievery envelope you provided or did they return it via the post office or another carrier? Yes I saw your post earlier regarding your getting your IRL granted after applying on 2nd Jan. I'm guessing that your case was very straight forward. I am expecting our case to be the same but it does seem also to depend on where you're from. My partner is from Brazil which doesn't seem to be such ...

Re: SET(M)

We also didn't apply in person as it looked like getting an appointment in time would not be easy. Also we didn't want to spend even more money. However, now that I've seen that things can take a long time I wish we had spend the extra £200 for a 24 hour turn around. My partner applied for his ILR ...

Re: APPLIED FOR ILR MORE THEN 6 MONTHS

mochyn wrote:If your application was simple and straightforward why did you not apply in person?
Perhaps for the two reasons I didn't:

1) It's significantly more expensive

2) Booking an appointment is seemingly impossible. (It's obviously possible, but I never had any joy)

Submitted form - 2nd Jan
Acknowledgement Letter - 5th Jan
ILR Stamped - 2nd Feb
Passport Received- 6th Feb

Chuffed to bits. Glad I went the postal route in the end!!
