Congrats smoothrun, what a huge relief for you. Chorc - my application is very similar to smoothrun, actually almost the same. No dependants, 14 years of documentation ensuring that every single month was accounted for. Education, tax statements, payslips, etc; along with 3 characters references and...

Re: An Issue

Congratulations for your ILR success Kiwigirl. I have been following the site for a while, just decided to be a member. I have applied the last march for 14 years long residence. Kiwigirl, I would like to submit my complaint because it has already pass over 6 months. Can I simply submit my complain...

hI Kiwigirl, where was your passport sent? Your house or your solicitor? It was sent to my solicitor along with all other supporting documentation. I'd rather not tell my story. That is my past and I would like to move on from that. I have a bright new future full of freedom ahead of me. Sorry if t...

I received my ILR today, for certain this time - I got my solicitor to check twice while she was on the phone telling me. My timeline is in the 14 year thread for those that are interested. However I wanted to post my thanks on this thread to those 10 year applicants that have supported me over the ...

Dear All I received my ILR today (for certain this time). For all those 14 year applicants who are still waiting here is my timeline: Application sent: 19 Jan 2010 UKBA Acknowledgement: 20 Jan 2010 Payment Claimed: 22 Jan 2010 Solicitor Complaint: 16 July 2010 MP Complaint: 5 August 2010 UKBA Respon...

It's a standard letter that UKBA send to everybody. I wouldn't worry about it. I got exactly the same letter via my MP. It's simply a waiting game now. The 10 yr continuous applicants are waiting for 7-8 months and 14 continuous apps are usually 2-3 months longer than the 10 year waiting time. So my...

Hi Chorc Since 20th January 2010. Like you I would like a response before Xmas. As you've probably seen in the news NZ has been hit by a major earthquake and unfortunately it was my home town. So I would like to head home to see my family. Don't want to withdraw my application because that's £1600 ...

I still haven't received any feedback from UKBA or my MP. Does anyone has any experience with this kind of case? How long do the UKBA take for replying an e...

Tell me about it! 7 months now for me.

It usually takes an additional 2 weeks for your passport to be returned.

Don't worry it is normal.

A different department places the ILR in your passport so it needs to be passed to them to wait in a "queue". I think UKBA return your documents because they think they are doing you a favour when in reality all you want is your passport with the ILR stamp!

I wouldn't worry about it. Council tax is per household not per person. So it could be that the landlord paid the council tax of the property. However full-time students are exempt from council tax subject to certain conditions: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/UniversityAndHigherEdu...

I agree with Sean. Tell them now. That way the bank will be able to file the appropriate forms with HMRC, if the tax isn't claimed before your husband applies for his ILR you will have peace of mind that it is in the system. If you are still worried keep copies of all correspondence relating to that...

Let this be a lesson learnt for future applicants who are thinking of not declaring things like minor offences or dependants/spouses. UKBA carry out thorough checks not only on the applicant but the address(es) they are living in. Give them any little excuse to reject the application and they will. ...

Re: Message for Kiwigirl25

Hi Kiwigirl25 When is the next parliament session? They should really discuss this matter and find a solution for it. Hi Parliament reconvenes in late August/early September. yes, it is £4500 for our family. We have consulted a few solicitors at the time, it was all the same price I don't care if it's for a family, it's still too much. You've simply got yourself in a situation whereby your solicitor has taken advantage of you. You need to get yourself out of this and I...

My eyes can't believe what I'm reading  To break down your story: You can't run a business on a student or dependant visa. Why the solicitor advised this!?! It does not cost £5000 to extend a visa. I would day £650 average for a good solicitor and £800-£1000 for the actual fee. A good OIC...
