Schengen Visa Question

Hello, My wife has an expiring Schengen visa (17th Feb) however she intends to fly to Paris (end of Feb), Slovenia (March) and Portugal (July). She's South African with BRP in the U.K. What's her best route to apply for Schengen, go the French route or go back to the Portuguese embassy where her las...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

So I was interested to see if we'd have been able to travel without a Schengen visa (my wife is South African and has ILR in the UK) and she's married to me (UK Citizen) - in the end we got a Schengen visa for peace of mind. However, Ryanair never checked her Schengen and just asked if she was marri...

Schengen Visa - Clarification

Hey guys, My wife was issued with a multi entry (type c) Schengen visa which is valid for 6 months. It does say 30 days on it as well. Does that mean that she can use a total of 30 days within that 6 month period? Or can she leave back to the UK and then go back again for another 30 days. How do the...

Re: DLR > ILR (BRP) > Citizenship

Will she still have to do the life in the UK test?

Her first language is English. Will she be required to do the English test? Or can she use her South African GCSE equivalent in English?

Thanks for your help!

DLR > ILR (BRP) > Citizenship

Hello, My wife is a South African (I'm British). She was granted discretionary leave to remain (limited leave to remain) under human rights by a judge back in 2009. She extended this once and has been on DLR for 6 years. She then applied last November for ILR and was granted that earlier this year. ...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

In which case the lack of a Schengen visa may be the least of your problems! How will you travel without your passports if they don't arrive in the next few days? Would you shoot me if I said the British Isles are very nice at this time of the year? :| No!! Lol. Passport office are being super help...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

Managed to get an appointment at the consulate for this Thursday.

Trusting she'll get a visa, not sure how it'll work with it getting into the Schengen system before we fly on Sunday. Apparently, that can take a few days?

We fly at the weekend!

Two phone calls to customer services, one to whatever the border agency peeps are called, and then a transcript from R online.

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

Personally having seen on the forum how frequently the UKVI staff give flawed advice and then take no responsibility for doing so, I would be cautious. However, you say that you have confirmation by email from the airline (I assume 'R') that your wife can travel. UKVI Immigration Officers won't be ...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

I doubt that you spoke with the UKBA . They were disbanded in March 2013 as being unfit for purpose and superseded by the UKVI. :| There doesn't seem much else to add to the advise already given. At the end of the day it's your call. Yeah it was whoever was in charge at Manchester. Yeah I'm aware t...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

So I've spoken to the said airline 3 times, and the actual airport (UKBA). I have a transcript of an online chat also saying she'll be ok to fly. They've said as long as she has a valid passport she'll be boarded. All of them have confirmed that she'll be ok to fly as she is my spouse. What do you g...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

See overview: http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/non-eu-family/index_en.htm Yeah I've seen that, I'm not concerned about that for this reason: owever, if they arrive at the border without an entry visa, the border authorities should give them the opportunity to prove by other me...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

You may not be issued with a multiple entry Schengen visa. But what if "someone who isn't me" decided to get a schengen visa for Paris say for Friday night, and it was only single entry, however, that said person decided they didn't want to go to Paris on Friday, and changed their mind and decided ...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

So what if we a Schengen Visa for France fast tracked and book a night away in France on Friday? The Schengen visa will say France as single entry but technically I can still travel into the Schengen zone with it? Portugal's fast track process is not doable because of their public holiday, but I cou...

I'm going to go to the consulate in Manchester and see if they'll see us without having an appointment! Long shot I know... Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

Out of interest, why has your wife not applied for British citizenship yet? It's been a long process. She was granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (under human rights) for the last 6 years (had to keep renewing), and then got issued with ILR this year when we applied last November 2015. - I'm assu...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

a) They don't, they simply state that they'll glance at the BRP and ask my wife if she's travelling with me b) That the airline will stamp her boarding pass and allow her through. There is also success stories. I'm hoping they'll be merciful on the basis of 3 British kids as well. a) That sounds ra...
