Do I need to update my address on my OCI card?

Hello, This is my situation - I have an OCI card (I am an ex-Indian national), my wife has a PIO (she is a foreign national) and we have a newborn for which I wish to apply for an OCI. Both the PIO/OCI cards reference our old London address. Since there is a March 2016 deadline to convert the PIO to...

Thank you

Hi all,

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help over the last few years, have now gone through the whole rigmarole: Tier 2> Tier 2 > Tier 2 > Tier 1 > ILR > BC > OCI.

The assistance/advice provided on this forum has been invaluable.

Good luck to everyone else.

Hi there, When I went to apply for my OCI (late May at HCI London) there was an announcement made that second-person applications would not be accepted. This was after the long morning queue and everyone was admitted inside the waiting room. So quite a few people wasted 2-3 hours for nothing. So I w...

Just wanted to confirm that the timings n the website are correct, and the counter opens at 8.30am for collection? Any information on how slow/fast these queues run?

Thank you.

Reading these posts just makes me glad that I grit my teeth and went and stood outside HCI at 7am. Sorry to hear your experiences - shocking but not sadly not surprising. I read somewhere that NI residents could submit OCI applications in Dublin. Not great, but beats coming down to London. Plus I'm ...

Rather than untouchable, I think unmodifiable would a better term. I had a different problem when printing the form - my previous nationality came out as NA despite having specified it. So I'd recommend just correcting whatever fields are incorrect. Use a black pen and make the correction(s) in bloc...

Lol! You sound exactly like me 24 hours ago. Did you make a note of the File Reference number (begins with the characters 'GBRLI')? If yes, then this should do the trick: 1. Go to https://passport.gov.in/oci/ (ignore certificate errors) 2. Click on 'Click Here to Proceed' 3. Click bottom option on t...

Hello, So here's the story... I finally managed to print out the form, but only after completing Part A, Part B and the hitting Submit. Apparently the form/website has changed in the last couple of days, so now there's no option to Save/Print after Part A. So the instructions on the HCI London websi...

Confused about OCI process

Hi all, Am really hoping someone can help me because I'm utterly confused about the OCI process: 1. According to the HCI website "Once you fill up Part-A online, Save, and give Print command. Part-A with online registration number (GBRLI....., not GBRLone) will be printed along with Part-B blank for...

Aha. So when I look at the Timings section under collection ("Issue of OCI tokens for collection after Submission of Passport for OCI visa card"), this means that the day of the collection will involve two trips - one to drop off the passport and one to pick up the passport + OCI. Got it. Nice and s...

OCI application question - passport endorsement

Hello, Is there a sticker endorsed on the passport when it is issued, or is it just the OCI booklet? Reason I ask is that under Documents Required it says that only a photocopy of the British passport is required. Yet, scrolling down to the FAQ, question 12 (I am an OCI holder. What documents should...

Question about NRE/NRO/Demat accounts when applying for OCI

Hello, I will submit an OCI application as soon my documents are ready (am waiting for the passport surrender certificate). I understand that each OCI application is processed back in India, I presume this involves a background check/credit check, etc? So my question is - what do I need to do about ...

Understood. My confusion lay in the statement (on HCI London's website): OCI being an Internet-based process. All applicants have to apply by online registration through Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India website http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?Id_Pk=553. I assumed that this meant that Part A...

Can I apply for OCI at the same time as passport surrender?

Apols if this is a stupid question.

I believe the first part of the OCI application involves filling out a form on the MEA website. Can I fill this form and submit online while my passport surrender is being processed?

Or is there a particular order in which things have to be done?

Thanks.

Hi there, You should get a text from the IPS within a few days of submitting the application. If I remember correctly, I went to the PO on a Thursday and got a text from the IPS hat they'd received my application next Tuesday. If you haven't heard back in 5 days, I suggest calling the IPS. Make sure...

Hi all, I had a my passport interview on the 2nd, and still haven't received my passport. So I called up the IPS today and gave them my barcode number. Check and Send experience

Hi, I used the Check and Send service, but I was horrified just how bad the service was. To say that the post office employee was clueless is a euphemism. She insisted that I include my cancelled passports (I have two old passports that ran out of pages, their corners were snipped and stamped cancel...

I agree with you. Nowhere it is clearly said that ur grandparents details are not necessary. That's just because the passport form instructions are very badly written. The fact is that grandparents' details are not needed in these cases. Hi all, I thought I'd just add my 2 cents since I faced exact...

I have 2 old passports that ran out of pages, ...
